  1. So then id end up being better off doing a full conversion... is there any reason to get the longer barrel? The rifle would be for hunting
  2. Looking to get a 7.62x39 16in barrel... Can i just put a bg in and call it a day and use preban mags here in Ny? (it awb still in effect).. or would i need to replace the gas tube and handguards to achieve. 922r compliance? Rifle will be for hunting and shtf. Also any greater accurracy with the longer barrel?
  3. well at least im in the ballpark lol. im looking at the turnnion now and i see the rivet heads.. so all thats needed is to file down the step below the rivet so it is parralel with the rivet head? are the tongues / teeth / points just below the steps touched?
  4. I assume the most important part is to not do too much at once which willcan heat the metal up
  5. Lol. Going back it looks like the dimple issue was '09 Thanks for the chime. Glad to know there have only been a few fails out of the many mods. I must say the msa is more streamlined. Using your 1/4 analogy... how much is shaved off trunnion? Papers thickness? A dime?.... the pics on here, as great as they are, just cant get the right angle
  6. Well im gettin up the balls to get a mag adapter.. after reading far too many posts on both. In my searches ive only found 2 catasrophic failures... are there any others to report? Crack trunnions etc? Another question is should i go to a specific adapter if i have dimples? I saw some posts about issues with msa and dimpled recievers.. Does one adapter require less trunnion removal than the other?
  7. Noone knows what preban mags are available?. I thought for sure thered be a write up
  8. Well im in ny... and ive been picking up preban ar mags... but having a hard time getting a preban galils... are there any other. 223 mag options for a ban state? I read a post about east german weigers at apex. But their site says they will not ship them to ny.... 2nd question..... msa or renegade... which requires less trunnion modification? Im not concerned with looks though i feel the msa is prettier... i converted my own rifle but im concerned about ruining it i and would rather just take the easiest install....
  9. AHA good call on the can... my handguard top came with a tension clip.. but i couldnt twist it on w/ the guard by hand. ill try again tomorrow w/ a vise... but for now i dont mind a bit of wobble in the top guard
  10. great parts... good condition +1
  11. Quick questions.... 1) can i use a crush washer or some other substitute for a lower handguard retainer? 2) so i need tension clips for front hamdguards? 3) some tinfoil in said guards for a heat shield?
  12. Hey man. Can u respond on the shipping sit? Mailman wont drop. So i need to figure when to meet him...

  17. did you try a massive buttpad for the timbersmith. Looking at pictures I got the same feeling it would be short.... thought maybe a big old butt pad would fix it.... again thanks for your info. As for the magpul.... im in New Yorkistan adjustable not allowed. :I( That said.... anyone have a used black timbersmith stock set they want to sell?
  18. thanks for the input on the timbersmith. I was wondering because it is made by tapco. and they can be spotty. are you tall? im 6'3 with long arms
  19. I def. Appreciate the responses... howevee. Ive alldy looked at stocks for hours and decided between the previous mentioned setups.... Im not looking for a diff set.. just opinions.. wood vs polymer whih is lighter in standard ak format
  20. I currently have my saiga set up in a dragunov configuration. And I have to admit I feel like its a bit heavy for plinking.. So I am currently looking at 2 different options.. A timbersmith laminated wood stock set. pros- gorgeous, classic or just plain old tapco standard length butt with a hogue grip... pros- cheap, blacktical (but i have an ar for that) I assume the wood will weigh more.. but how much more? I love the look of the wood but if it will weigh significantly more ill just go polymer.. So any opinions? did you go wood and switch to poly? or vice vers
  21. wow.... you guys are harsh
