  1. My stock conversion is done. It was a simple PROCESS, but sanding and filing out the tiny details was a nightmare to say the least oh hi there air-compressor tools. Nice to meet you. Thanks for lending a hand After properly measuring and marking the cutting points with tape, I used a hacksaw to cut off majority of the stock, then I removed the factory screw that held the upper and lower together. After separating the lower, I used this sanding disc on an aircompressor thingamajig (I went to my Boeing friend's house to borrow it. Made life so much easier though I have no id
  2. yeah i made my own temporary one. working on forearm #2 when i get a chance. That actually looks pretty decent. Nice job.
  3. You did give me a good idea though I had some old Magpul MOE rail lying around, and it fit on the handguard with a little trimming I'm gonna cut the rail about 1/3 in size today along with cutting the factory stock off (wish me luck haha)
  4. I think that chokes only count as muzzle devices and therefore countable when the barrel is externally threaded like the saiga. i believe the ATF's current stance is that internal chokes are not muzzle devices. What. A. Pain. ... freaking ATF, I swear I guess I'd have to fork out the extra cash for a Tromix Shark Brake... the idea of just sanding the barrel tip and loctiting the brake onto the barrel... I dunno man. I'm sure it works fine, I just prefer threads. Wonder if anyone out there will bother making 1919 barrels with built in goodies like porting, threading, etc
  5. Would this count? It's $39.99 from centerfire systems and uses the factory choke system... Which I think would be cheaper than getting a Tromix adapter + brake (though they look sexy as hell)
  6. i just wanted to make sure you knew that changing the PG would not help your 922 count. if you just meant you were on the fence for aesthetics i appologize. i was simply trying to make sure you weren't misinformed from this post i personally think the PG has a very nice feel. but the stock forearm sucked. thats why i built my own. Oh no, no need to apologize. I was correct in assuming you were assuming I thought the PG counted towards 922r Our wording of words wasnt particularly ... effective lol. I think we just confused each other for a minute Yeah the Tromix FCG =
  7. Just to make sure, you know that the pistol grip wouldn't get you enough parts right? and could depending on the ATF's decision actually put you in breach of 922. ETA punctuation I have the Tromix gas piston Tromix FCG Tromix stock adapter Tromix polymer stock folding mechanism firebird extended charging handle firebird oversized mag button I think that's 3 922r compliant parts. All I need is 1 more 922r compliant part and THEN installing the folding stock would be legal. I'm not sure exactly what you're asking?
  8. Damn those Turkish threads... They have their hearts in the right place (evidence: the ever tacticool UTAS-15) but man do they slack off on some common sense areas. I can't complain though... the quality control is significantly more... predictable and constant than our Russian comrades
  9. I like what you've done Not meaning to sound like a hater or anything, but the attached rails look ... uneven. Performance > Aesthetics, all the way. But still... personally, i'd leave just the front-most rail that mounts the front MBUIS I think I have some random magpul MOE rails lying around that I could use to mount my spare MBUIS... I HATE the stock plastic front sight on the 1919 Other than that, FANTASTIC job. Your buttstock conversion and paintjob look impeccable Also, my rear MBUIS was tough to get on my rail but I just had patience with it and would tap it in place
  10. That's the thing, I've seen mates running a 1919 setup with the stock plastic handguard and a different cap screw. Eh, it's possible they made one themselves
  11. Well... I dunno I really wanna install a side folding stock and all I need is one more 922r compliant part... its either blow $35 total ish for a steel plate that really has no use for me... or wait a few weeks for a $200 handguard I thought about adding a pistol grip but all the work of cutting really does frighten me... it seems significantly more difficult than cutting the plastic stock off Besides, I'm comfortable with the stock grip. I mean who wouldnt love a comfy ERGO grip? It feels so comfortable on my AR15. But I'm content with the stock pg
  12. Wait, so taking a rubber mallet to remove the lower and upper isnt a good idea? Whats the best way to separate the receivers then
  13. yeah, im gonna wait until the handguard is released
  14. I tighten it as much as I could but it still comes loose just from hauling it around I see different types of caps on 1919s online.... I wonder where I can nab one. Maybe theres a better one that fits the threads
  15. Mine constantly becomes loose, even when not shooting I see pictures of custom 1919s with different handguard caps and also on CenterFires page where they advertise the upcoming fb handguard Where do I get a different cap that doesn't suck and actually tightens properly without use of loctite?
  16. Okay so just lightly wipe down piston and etc. with oily rag and keep chamber and bolt fairly wet. I'll be adding a tromix stock adapter so itll be a good chance to check for shavings
  17. Ah ok. I have everything you mentioned but the mag floor plate. Im a little hesitant to purchase one seeing as fb handguards should be in stock soon. Unless the steel floorplate has some sort of benefit other than just for 922r compliance
  18. Ah ok, I guess I could take care of the FCG a bit Do you wipe down any parts on the op rod? or just spray it?
  19. Ok good, I just wanted to make sure I didn't misunderstand that ATF letter.
  20. So, I might just have been drunk when I read the manual, but I'm still hazy on proper maintenance procedures for the 1919 When I got my 1919, the bolt and the chamber were pretty oily I guess proper procedure is to do the usuals: field strip firearm clean barrel using solvent, cotton patches +brush, etc wipe down bolt and chamber of any residue However, I'm hazy on what parts exactly to spray lube on. Or if Im even supposed to clean the piston, springs, op rod, etc (basically anything inside the forend) This is actually my first semi auto shotgun so I want to make sure I do
  21. Wow, so I'm much more confident about doing this myself this weekend My buddy has a table saw like Cobra 76 two Hopefully it turns out alright. I'd hate to have to wait MONTHS for a replacement lower Edit: Yeah screw the table saw, it was a lot easier to use a hacksaw and then just grind the cut into desired form
  22. Just bought the Tromix adapter, folding mechanism and Tromix polymer stock. I looked at several pictures and it seems the Tromix adapter looks more properly "flushed" with the lower than the Firebird (though the Firebird may be properly inline...who knows, I didnt buy the FB model)
