  1. Yeah, the factory hand guard is fine. A little short if I want to add a bipod which was my original intent. As for cutting your hands on rails, they make rail covers. I hate adding anything to the barrel, including hand guards that attach to the barrel, so a barrel clamp is out for me. I picked up a PA green laser, hey it was on sale and I can have a lot of fun with it even off the rifle. Temporarily it is mounted on the secondary rail of the UTG Pro optics mount I bought. I bought the UTG Pro for that secondary rail on the side, good place for a laser and maybe a flashlight. But I may pr
  2. Just a bit on the ammo and "arms" from http://tenthamendmentcenter.com/2013/04/02/checkmate-on-your-military-type-firearms-ban/ The Militia Debate—Arming the Militia During the debates in the Federal [Constitutional] Convention of 1787, there was an extensive debate concerning the militia. On August 23rd, a committee report was delivered to the Convention. The following clause was under consideration: “To make laws for organizing, arming & disciplining the Militia, and for governing such part of them as may be employed in the service of the U.S. reserving to the States respectivel
  3. Hitler's birthday is around the 19th if I remember right. Patriot's day is also the 19th, read Lexington and Concord. On the 19th I break out the Gadsden and fly it in my yard. I've been preparing for the worst for as long as I can remember, kind of seems natural when your grandmother lived through the Great Depression and talked about it. Not to mention the effects it had on her all her life. Growing up with northern winters you make sure you have crap in your car in case you get stuck going somewhere and in the house in case you get snowed in for a couple of weeks. Lived about 60 miles f
  4. More stuff to add, Grip-pod ... grip and bipod in one unit, more room left on the hand guard. But I can't swap it with my other rifles. Maybe the Harris first then a Grip-pod later. AR style hand guard ... cause it's longer, about a whole hand longer Hogue ... Montec got a Hogue pistol grip, I'm going to check that out and see how it feels. Will probably get that. I'm not sure about the hand guard... I'm still deciding LOL. Damn, I'm going to have a $2K AK before this is done. I don't think I've spent that on my other guns... got some great deals on those.
  5. Is the Grip-pod any good as a bipod?
  6. dsmtsi23: Is that the CSS AR style forearm? What's the length of it? Man, I need to buy a lotto ticket so I can buy more rifles and try different set ups
  7. The MI extended and the Chaos hand guards look good. I'd like to keep fore end weight down, so I'm not so sure about aluminum. Maybe if I end up with enough weight on the back end with red dot and magnifier or however I end up going with optics I might bite on an aluminum hand guard.
  8. Ya, ya, montec. Got to figure out how to do it without paypal, or figure out my paypal password.... don't remember when I used it last.
  9. I spent a few years in Central Florida, nice if you like the sun and heat Nope, montec said nothing about spotting $5, I'm sure it was an oversight on his part and he will be glad to do the spotting since he forgot to mention it to me. Just PM him Hickenlooper was a dirt bag before he became mayor of Denver. I remember the Denver Pravda busting him for employing illegals but the morons in Denver still voted him in. I'm glad I left a few years ago, loved Colorado but hated the Denver Metro area. Will be interesting to see how the People's Republic of Boulder has expanded to take over
  10. How do the MOE rails hold up? I've been thinking aluminum would hold up better, but I do know Magpul makes good stuff. Man, some days there are just too many options.
  11. Thanks for the welcome! Oh I wrote em alright; the governor and lt. governor, my reps and everyone on the public safety committee. I told them I'll be looking to buy some land later this year, a small farm in need of a lot of work and sweat equity, and if they pass an AWB I'll look a few miles west in North Dakota instead of Minnesota. I hate flat land, but I'd rather have flat land then live in a state that bans firearms based on cosmetic looks instead of really fixing the issue. I was so pissed reading the reports of Rybak's desire to strong arm firearm suppliers for the Minneapolis
  12. Thanks for the input I've been reading a bunch of threads, and am considering adding metal rails to the stock FIME SGL21 hand guard as an option. Or maybe the Tapco (non quad rail) and adding metal rails to it. All I need is the bottom rail and maybe one on the side for a light. I don't need any extra weight on the front end, and the girl friend's back likes balance or more weight to the rear. I ended up going with a UTG Pro optics mount because of the additional short rail on the side, perfect for a laser if I go that route (and adds more weight on the back end). If I don't like the
  13. After months of hiding the SGL21 from the girl friend and calling it "Mikey" when talking about it she's seen it, held it, and likes it. She can't wait to shoot Mikey but she'd like a vertical fore grip on it, hand position affects her bad back and a vertical hand grip causes less stress and is more comfortable. I've been thinking about a hand guard with rails, but I'm picky. I hate anything that clamps to the barrel and it seems the options are limited in this area. I considered a Tapco quad rail, but plastic rails just don't do it for me. Red Jacket seems to have a quad rail that doesn't
  14. Hi all. I finally decided to join, montec has been after me for a while to join so I decided I may as well since I do read every once in a while. Most of the time I'm looking at what to get for my AK, code named "Mikey" in conversation with montec so the girl friend wouldn't know what the hell we were talking about. Now she likes the AK I live in northern Commiesota, aka Minnesota, where the southern part of the state is doing its best to become California. Anyhow, I just wanted to pop in and say hello.
  15. P2AB is short for Pro 2nd Amendment Boycott. Basically, I decide who to support with my money based on how much they support the 2nd amendment.
