  1. What spare repair/replacement parts should I get now while they are still available? Anyone have list of the spares they deem essential? Sorry I cannot afford a 2nd 223 at this time :-) Sorry if this was posted before.....I must be too dumb and old to find the search function. Tnx!
  2. Schultze/Mike/Mancat - Thanks for the info!! I'll try a few since they are so cheap and available. I'll just store them away till I have time to mod & test with snap caps over the holidays. Then I have save for ammo......sigh. ps - Mancat - I've been reading your stuff the past week.......really good stuff!! You need to do a sticky with all that info!!
  3. I'm seeing Yugo Pap steel mags at really cheap prices (<$18) and can't find any reviews. Has anyone tried them? If they're that cheap and still available, I'm wondering if something is wrong with them. (Just noticed that they are distributed by CAI.....now I'm getting the picture) Tnx!
  4. I'll take the sks mag if it's a tapco. tcccc2009@gmail.com
  5. Those mags look similar to the coffin mags used for the WWII Finnish Suomi 9mm submachineguns. The coffin mags were difficult to reload if you didn't have the special reloader "tool". The coffin mags weren't reliable. I have a hunch that those 60rd mags have issues similar to the Suomi coffin mags and probably the reason why they aren't too common.

    Bolt Stick

Thanks Nalioth!! You are the man. (I had to baby the bolt because it was 1:00am in the morning and didn't want to wake the neighbors. I'll mess around with the Saiga when the is family is out.)

    Bolt Stick

Did a search and could not find a thread on bolt stick. Picked up a fairly new home brewed conversion and found that the bolt is sticking at the rear when I rack the bolt all the way to the back.....it appears that the hammer is holding it back.....appears that the bolt is riding against the hammer. No mag is in the well when I rack the bolt. The FFL, who I picked up the gun from, didn't think that the bolt stick was a big deal. There should be no BHO. The previous owner said he took it out. I can push the bolt back over the hammer. I haven't had a chance to go to the

  9. Just kind of curious as to how durable the Galil Orlites are. (Yes - I know Tony from Tromix hates them) They will probably easily last me a lifetime since I can't afford 223. (223 is $1/round in my state, we can't order them from out of state and driving over the state line ain't an option since the nearest state is about 2000 miles away) I just modified 2 mags and was practicing installing and removing the mags. Those front plastic "tabs" that hook onto the gun seem to be taking quite a beating. Maybe as I get more used to the install/removal of the mags, they won't get as beat
  10. Ordered 6 orlite mags and need to order a pack of reliable magazine clamps. I don't really care if the clamps are polymer or metal, they just need to be reliable. Where did you get yours? Thanks!!
  11. Just bought a used 223 which was converted to pistol grip by the previous owner. The 223 should arrive in a few weeks. The 223 does not have a bullet guide, which is the way I want it. Due to my locale's very strict gun laws....we can't have rifle mags over 10 rds if the mag will also fit/work in a pistol (ie AK pistol). So I have to use specialized mags like the Surefires if I want to use a hi cap mag (ie they shouldn't work in an AK pistol). I'm leaning to the steel mags modified by Surefire because the poly Surefire mags are not reinforced and may break. I would gone with the poly
  12. Just bought a used converted 223 in which the previous owner didn't re-install the BHO (the seller is including the BHO if I want to install it). The 223 should arrive in a few weeks. I'm pretty busy (ok...lazy) and debating if I should re-install the BHO or just leave it as is. About how long does it take to re-install the BHO? Do you feel the time spend is worth it to have a working BHO? Is the BHO of the Saiga that "great" of a feature? The BHO's main purpose, to me, is indicating that you're out of ammo (my understanding is the BHO does not hold the bolt open once the mag is r
