  1. Agree with cobra on proper profile on hammer and friction mods first. I do over-kill the gas on the on a gun I will run an autoplug in tho. But that's not for everyone.
  2. Thanks for the input Evl. I'm sure you got a lot more to add than I do. Just kinda decided to start snapping some pics during my builds. Even though most everyone knows this stuff. Little tips n tricks like these make DIY much more enjoyable. If it helps one person it's worth it to me. As you know after doing something for a while, not much seems mind-blowing! But to someone new this could save hours.
  3. Can anyone identify this style? It seems obvious that it has three settings. That's all I can tell. Came on a used gun.
  4. When you drift out mag release pin follow it with a similar size pin that has been cut to length so it is only the width of the mag release and the two "ears" on the reciever. Magwell will come right off without ever having to fight the mag release and that $&@&&*£%+ Spring! Lol I just got this gun and did not do the conversion on it, for those of you that noticed the trigger guard install.
  5. Nails are tools too! I can't tell you how many times I have been able to perform a job because I can hook or peel or grab something that momma's nail biters can't. They work, just like me. I have so many scars on my hands I promise you can't even count em all. I gave up my dream of ever being a hand model long ago! Lmao
  6. Agree. I do think it over gasses the gun. I feel you have to have extra gas or the autoplig is useless. On a 3" slug it will blow out the 4 vents and looks like a comp! When your shooting you look down the center of the "v" as the gas jets out. I will try the 5 next time to keep things cleaner. (Izhmash must agree with you as the 030 has 5 ports) thought about leaving the original 3 and squeezing 3 more small ones as it would mak a nice small circle, and require less work on the gb. On a gun I don't plan to autoplug( iz-447 with laminated SVD forend, that I'm not going to gring the handguard t
  7. I would offer much ass sistance, pics, and sarcasm.
  8. Also just did this gas block mod and gas ports this am about 30min. (4)-@.093 or 3/32" Just bevel gas block at gas port angle. I do just enough to "catch" all 4 holes back one is almost never the issue. Two sides and front "new hole" will usually need some clearancing. No affect on gas pick side geometry. Check out the gas block pins. Someone "beat" me to this mod apparently. Though I don't thing they got the gas block off. Lol Yes (4)-ports at .093 is prob too much, but it give plenty of gas to tune the autoplug. And when the auto plug "pops off" I feel it purges some of the fouling out w
  9. Ok since, this thread has been officially thread jacked This is how I hammer the gas block on and off Ground a cold chisel to the correct angle No it does affect the screw threads, yes it will leave marks. But it's miles away from the gas plug threads(the ones everyone seems to f up)
  10. Can we start a subsection for the factory magwell or non iz-109 models. They are considerably differnt and cause a lot of confusion from what I have seen. If it is created it should start of with pics for model identification.
  11. Thanks to HPD and Dinzag for the ak74 style brake, bayo lug(not installed) and fsb(ordered yesterday) this was the fsb off one of my other 040 guns. If anyonehas struggled with removing that fsb you gotta heat the shit out of it and the epoxy/glue/locktite wth it is will start on fire and grow like a 4th of July smoke-snakes. It will then tap off( obv the set screw under the sight crosspin must be loosened)
  12. I like it! Mild thoughts of shortening and perming to replicate a 16" barrel look. No going back on that tho! I'll ge the wood laminate stock on first and seen if needs to be further tweaked. Pretty simple tho. Get the closest military saiga ever imported, which can no longer be imported, and hack it up! Lol (I do have in my possession an replacement fsb/fgb, so worst case scenerio was considered)
  13. Only down side to the saiga iz-433 is the LRBHO doesn't release the bolt like the vepr. The vepr is bulkier in the handguard, heavier, and has a plastic top rail. Other than that almost identical guns.
  14. You kinda missed it cuz, well.....we can't get em anymore. But yeah, the vepr is a commercial copy of the siaga military gun.
  15. You know what you get if if you mix Viagra and a rooster? A cock that stays up all night!
  16. Nah, saiga is based on ak. Vepr on rpk. Soooo the front handguards are tale-tell. Also the no bulges in the reciever for the front trunnion. Vepr shave a tad nicer adjustable sights too. But no it's an iz-433 AKA siaga 030
  17. Cobra you really should post a "WARNING graphic images: may not be suitable for all audiences!"
