  1. Hi. I have 850 bucks which I plan to spend on a Chinese AK, as Veprs are unobtainable at this price. There are TWO Chinese AKs I am looking at. Heard good things about them:1. Norinco Hunter: Milled Receiver 20" chrome lined barrel. My buddy has Norinco hunter and trigger on it is sweet, like on old school shotguns.2. NHM91. 1.5 inch stamped receiver (like on Vepr but without the reinforced trunnion), 20" barrel chrome lined, which IIRC is a bit thicker than on NOrinco Hunter.I have no issues with Norinco Hunter "monte carlo" style stock. Which one is in general better and more valuable and ac
  2. Hello. When vepr got banned, I grabbed 2 Vepr 223 rifles. Also got 15 mags for each. Now, I got around to fiddling with them, found to my dismay that Bulgarian Mags simply do not fit into the Vepr magwell. They fit fine up front, but when you rock it back, the back of them mag doens't even fits into the mag well. I am not saying it doesn't lock, it doesn't even go into the mag well, as it seems to be a bit WIDER than the mag well. Any ideas? Thank you
  3. Hello, folks. Once again, back to technical questions. I got my greedy hairy paws on Saiga M (HBAR) 223/5.56. Problem is - it has no bolt head. Got a bolt carrier though. The only bolt heads available are Bulgarian from K-Var. So. a) Will Bulgarian bolt head work with Saiga 223 bolt carrier? Will it lock properly onto the rifle during action. In case it won't. Will Bulgarian bolt AND Bulgarian bolt carrier work correctly on Saiga 223? Thank you D

  5. Hello folks. I have few Saiga rifles that DO NOT have those nifty BHO devices. Anyone knows where I can get some? I have RIFLES, not shotguns. I emailed Carolina Shooting supplies but they are not responding or picking up their phones. Thanks D
  6. My next rifles: 1) PTR32 (HK style rifle using 7.62x39) 2) AK74 Bulgarian 3) Ruger Mini 14. Already have AR15 in 5.56x45. 20" barrel. So I will get for it: 1) 7.62x39 upper (20" barrel) 2) 5.45x39 upper (20" barrel) After these purhcases my semi auto rifle collection is complete. I will be getting more Enfield rifles: 1 in 7.62x51 and 1 in 303
  7. Why would I give a damn about Colt? They are no better than DPMS or DelTon. Yet overpriced. They can't come up with anything else but an M4, which is ANYTHING but a Survival rifle. Why would I give a damn about Colt? They do NOTHING that 20 other USA company do not do for less money. However Izhmash and Molot, make the BEST sporting AK rifles. As good as bulgarian for Half the price. Tell me what makes Colt worth saving? If DPMS, DelTon and others make same rifles for half the price of colt, why bother? Ask yourself WHY the world is on fire? Because it stopped being balanced. Before it was
  8. Everyone calm down. I talked to K-Var today. Talked to TJ. He said, and I repeat. a) All Saiga, rifles or shotguns ARE banned. 2) Veprs rifles and shotguns are NOT banned yet. c) Bulgarian AKs are NOT banned. d) Romanian and Yugo AKs are NOT banned. This is coming from K-Var. I figure they would know what they are talking about. D
  9. How about you design, develope, and test a mag and then invest the money and bring it to market. Then you can charge much less for it. Or should someone else do all this for you out of the kindness of their heart? It is absolutely unacceptable for some company to go through this process and make a little money, right? They must "owe" you something right? My heart bleeds for SGM and all other companies who charge us arm and leg. Lets start. 1) The MANUFACTURE of the magazine is cheap - injection molding. No steel stamping (that's CSSPECS), no aluminum stamping, not anything el
  10. Hello, folks. I got the 7.62x54R Vepr, love it, great shooter. However the mag cost is prohibitive. $45 for PLASTIC mag. Some call it "free market", I call it HIGHWAY ROBBERY. Bren mags are $7 each. They are also for a rimmed round. 303 British. Length of 303 British - 3.075 Inches Length of 7.62x54R - 3.0377 inches. So length wide the 7,62x54 should fit into a Bren mag. However, will it feed? Bren is double stack, Vepr is Single stack, so, besides widening magwell, what else should be done? Is this project at all possible? How difficult is it? I know a VERY good gunsmith who will take that pr
  11. The Bulgarian, Polish and Russian AKs have life expectancy of 30K+ round before barrel is replaced. After barrel is replaced it has another 30K rounds before receiver is stretched out beyond use. It seems the me that the problem is NOT in quality of ammo, but in very low quality of US made chrome lining on the barrels.
  12. Thank you but THAT Saiga will stay unmodified. I got 10 SGM mags for it. I like SKS style stock better than pistol grip stock anyway. When I started to learn how to shoot it was first - 5.6 rimfire rifle, shotgun, SKS, they all had that SKS/Garand style stock, I am very used to it, and like it better than "assault rifle style" pistol grip. It is the OTHER Saiga 223, that already came modified that I need help with.
  13. Hmm, I hope someone will give me instructions on what to do with M85 mags. Right now STEEL galil mags lock in easily and sturdily. very little WOBBLE, less than 1 millimeter. I do NOT know how well they will feed. I already mentioned my rifle. It is an HBAR http://legionusainc.com/saiga-izsl-mp-.223rem.html already converted to take TAPCO Galil mags. (Mags got already modded)
  14. I decided to say "The hell with it" saiga stayed unmodified and I got 10 SGM mags for it. PROBLEM SOLVED. I like hunting stock better than pistol handle anyways. I was taught how to shoot with SKS, so to me hunting stock is more natural than pistol grip D
  15. Hey, Mancat or anyone else, do you, folks know exactly WHAT to do to M85PV mags? Some people said I need to put a flat face on a cross bar in the receiver, some people say I do not. that is NOT the problem. Dremel is my friend. What do I have to do to the mags THEMSELVES, beside shaving some stuff in the back? D
