  1. CDNN sales guy told me that they would be out of stock on extra 5rd Saiga-12 magazines, and it might be quite a while since they have some in. Anyone know of other places that sell spare mags, or other Saiga-12 accessories also besides CDNN?
  2. Make sure the length of that cheap rubber eyepiece is adequate including the amount it will take to slip on and stay fixed. I can see your aiming eye look as black as that rubber ring shooting heavy loads if too close to scope.
  3. So far, they are my slug of choice, just wish they had more options in that line to offer. I was happy with them - plan to order some more. I don't have a use for the Sabot's anyway. Gotta like the cost of the sluggers also, low.
  4. Just tried the CDNN side mount AK mount that is the Bulgarus?. First fit was very tight, could be attributed to a newer Saiga and newer mount, but the finish on both made for a hard shove just to get the mount on and locked. Shot 100rounds including mags through it in a couple weeks. Can't say it won't loosen up like others claim after a few hundred though. For 40 bucks I though it was a good buy (so far).
  5. Well; I did heed the advice from some who responded to my F(1,0) full choke - don't shoot any slug or fear for your life. I did keep my self to Foster this trip. I tried a long range Buschnell Sportview scope with the not well reviewed side mount scope rail (Bulgarus or somethin). Shot low recoil slugger, regular slugger, in both 2x3/4 inch and 3 inch, then shot 3" mags in PMC. I will post 50yard groups and 100yard groups with all 4 ammo types, but I would like to say they all shot well with not much recoil. I put all the light loads within an 8" pattern at 100yards with some scope
  6. I've seen the tacticle versions of the Saiga for LEO also, and many have muzzle breaks. Can't we all just get along and quit debating and have someone come up with a source. Then, those that actually spend the money to get them can in the worst case be rediculed by those that claim they are worthless? please sell one. thanks
  7. Of course, I plan to stock with Foster shape slugs, like the remington sluggers, and such for all those that claim to stick with this style only.
  8. That's what my thoughts were also. As with any new gun, I buy a box of several different brands and loads to see which one works best with actions and which patterns come out tighter. I'll be shooting the cheapo low recoil remington rifled slugs all the way up to the best 3"mags I could find. Will share results - hoping the long weekend brings some range time.
  9. Wow - this discussion went from how often to leave a loaded mag in for reliability to home defense retoric. As a scientist, I agree with the two guys who said, load a mag with your different loads (if you're like me you have two or three) and after a few days, see if there is distortion in any of them. If you notice a load with distortion, do NOT store them mag loaded. I have had Winchester 3" mag rounds in 2 mags for 4 weeks and no flattening at all. Then i've had the cheap Estate game loads in for 5 days, and noticed a flat spot on the heavy spring side.
  10. Oh yea - forgot to mention, since i'm testing slugs as well as heavy shot patterns with a full choke F(1,0) Saiga. If you don't hear back from my me on a pattern report assume that the S-12 FC doesn't shoot 3" mag slugs well and at best i'm in recovery. I'm skeptical since I read on other forums that F(1,0) owners have shot rifled slugs (plain lead) in hand size patterns at 50yards. If safety is an issue - i'll have plastic eye shields (ha). dog
  11. I assume those are your girlfriends thighs you put your Saiga through - one word - no more McDonalds! Nice scope though - have her do arobics holding an unloaded Saiga and drop some weight - and for god sakes get her some sun. darin
  12. cheaperthandirt.com is where I get most of my ammo from, and I also saw some military AK style straps and mounts for 3 bucks. They also had AR-14 in 1 1/2 in thick black strap that I ordered that i'm going to see if I can button up a swivel on. Either way - check out thier site and make sure the mil surplus area doesn't have something that will work. good luck!
  13. Just received my siderail scope mount for Saiga 12. Fits like a glove, couldn't even guess at a mil spacing error that could be present since my metal coating on both parts is new. Fit very tight. I am waiting for the scope rings (which I was promised with my order and didn't show) to put my 4X30x tacticle ret lighted scope to try some slugs. To take the mount down and shoot regular shotgun style is about 20 seconds, 30 to mount it with scope. Will share results of a short yardage pattern with standard low vel 2 3/4 inch slugs when results are in.
  14. Just FYi - I buy some of my arms online at auctionarms.com and gunsamerica.com. this is the Saiga I bought: http://www.auctionarms.com/closed/displayi...ItemNum=5703227 darin
  15. So you guys are saying if my stock Saiga is labeled F(1,0), and I can almost get the extruded ridges of a dime through the end the barrel, I should sholdn't shoot slugs, or I shouldn't shoot copper or harder slugs?
  16. Wow; thanks - it doesn't get any clearer than the pics on the other post. Mine came from factory with #2 setting, and my only ammo I was going to try out tomorrow was my old goose loads (3" #4 magnum winchesters). I think i'll try the #1 position first, and back it down for light loads. So if I do have the full choke stock version, you think it might not shoot heavy slugs well?
  17. I just received my Saiga 12 and have read alot obout making an adjustment for gas pressure for different types of ammo loads. I plan to try everything from light target in 2 3/4" and heavy slugs and mag loads in 3". The manual didn't mention anything about makeing this type of adjustment. Can some describe the process, and what is the factory default setting - probably the hotter 3" I am assuming. Thanks
  18. You wouldn't happen to have a picture of what the bolt assembly looks like when it is orientated properly for installation into Saiga do you?
  19. I just got my Saiga 12, and was able to disassemble it down to the two part bolt assembly. Now, I can't get the bolt assembly back in. What is the tecnique to getting this in? If I put the part with the firing pin in first, and then the bolt with lever part into these, the bolt stays open about 1inch and won't fully shut. I can't seem to get things lined up if I try to put the mated parts in together. Any help much appreciated. Thanks! darin
