Well, I was shooting Indian and I picked up some Portuguese the other day. I'll give it a try. I've heard its pretty clean. I've heard the Indian isn't loaded to the same pressures as real NATO ammo and that may have been why the bolt wasn't cycling all the way.

Love my POSP 6x42. It also uses the two watch batteries. You can get them at Radio Shack.
-
How you go about checking that? I can't get to the gas port, even after taking off the gas tube.
-
Thanks. I'll look for one of those brushes to really get into the gas port. What about bolt carrier lube? Do you guys use anything special?
-
I've cleaned the port with spray-in cleaner, but I can't actually get in there to clean the channel between the bbl and gas tube.

I just got my .308 a few weeks ago and have only about 100 rounds through it. But since I got it, it has jammed consistantly about every 2 or 3 rounds. Either the spent casing isn't cleared or the bolt doesn't get fully behind the fresh round and the round gets stuck under the bolt. Why does it keep doing this????? I'm shooting NATO surplus ammo. Please help.

GOB - when using the blackjack buffer, is the difference really that noticable? And which one did you get - the black or the green?

After shooting my Saiga .308 for the first time last week, I realized that with the amount of recoil this rifle puts out, I'll need to get a recoil pad. Anybody know where to get one or had any luck with one that fits the Saiga?
-
Thanks for the info. I went ahead with the 6x without the adjustable eyepiece.
-
Should I get the one with the adjustable eyepiece for focusing, or the one without. This rifle will be used for bear hunting if that helps.

This will be my first time using anything other than iron sights. Could you guys please look at this scope and tell me whether or not its a good scope at a good price. And nightvisionweb.com says that the Saiga will work with a VM type mount; is that what you guys have also found? Thanks. http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/cgi-bin/kowst...gno=GSPOSP642AK http://www.nightvisionweb.com/posp_6x42.htm

Finally got it off. Big pain in the butt though. There is a dimple in the metal below the rear sight that the latch is clicked in to. Had to use a knife the pry the latch out of the dimple, then it would turn. At first, I didn't realize the latch moved because it was so hard to move. I though maybe it was welded in place or something.

Picked up my new .308 today and am having some trouble removing the gas tube for cleaning. It says something about a cotter pin. I don't see a cotter pin. How do you remove the tube?

I was able to find a local dealer that had suplus Indian .308. Has anybody used this? Is it reliable? It looks pretty old, but I picked it up anyways cause I got 300 rds for 50 bucks.

So, by putting on a new FCG, a pistol grip, and a new stock, then there would be less than 10 imported parts on the Saiga and it would be considered U.S. made? But if I were to just take a Saiga and put a U.S. mag on it, it would still have more than 10 foreign parts and would be illegal?
-
Just got word back from EAA today that come September 14 EAA will be offering hi caps for the .223 and the 7.62, but not for the .308
-
I don't understand the 922r law. The law talks about firearms barred from importation having no more than 10 imported parts. What does that have to do with a legally imported Saiga with 1 hi cap mag??
-
Does anybody know where you can get a pistol grip built right into the stock so you don't have to do all the modifications to the rifle?
-
Unfortunately, in Massachusetts you can't have ammo delivered to you. I would need to buy it in state. Anybody here from Mass that would know where to get cheap ammo?
-
Where can I get the cheap .308 ammo??

I've got a newbie question. I'll be buying a new Saiga .308 in a couple of weeks and don't know much of anything about the AK's. Somebody told me that when you fire a round through a Saiga it'll crimp the brass and you won't be able to reload it. I do my own reloading so I just wanted to know if this was true or not in regard to the .308. Thanks.
