In the FAR West end of Richmond, had a saiga 308 got rid of it, working on getting another one. Also working on getting a membership in glen allen, had one out at black creek, but too far of a drive now.
  5. Yeah, I have already "scrubbed it down" and re-oiled it. There is a lot of wear on the top of the rounds when I cycle the action with a loaded magazine and the magazine is tight,, I mean really tight fitting,,
  6. I agree, I was at the gun show in richmond, va on sunday and saw the biggest crowd there I had every seen on a sunday. it was wall to wall people a lot of couples and women too which is rare here in central va, even though we have a lot of country girls. Even the homies were stocking up on ammo which is rare to find them in big visible groups at the gunshow. Too bad nobody was selling anything good or at least reasonably priced. The only thing I got other than my rifle, was about 150 rds. of portuguese military .308. I.e $ 500.00 gone like that, ouch !
  7. Picked up my new s308 today at the Richmond Gun Show,, 320 out the door w/ taxes and background check. question, the action seems real real tight, the mag is a very tight fit.. I know there is the normal break in with a new firearm.. seems to be made very beefy ? any feed back ?
  8. Those rifles are made by Izhmash but are not "Saigas". Here is a .308 listed on Gunbroker and one look at the price tells me why we don't see more of them. Why pay that for an import when you can buy a Remy 700 in .338 RUM for the same money? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=87794145 Thanks for the lookout DA Yeah I thought the rilfles would be a couple hundred under what I paid for my savage. That's what you get for assuming,, thanks.. for the info
  9. I am trying to get another bolt action 308, or 762 X39 if available , I have seen the RAA website and talked to the gentlemen on the number listed and they are of little help. When I mentioned the 762 X 39 bolt action they acted if it they had never heard of such a thing, thought it is listed on their site as a BARS 4-1 with three caliber options... Anyone seen or fired either one of these or know where I can get one ? any help would be appreciated.
  10. Cool, I am assuming you have the one's that red star offers or do you have another brand of sight. I like Williams peep sight but can lay it on with most commerical or military peeps thanks for the input
  11. I have seen the mojo ak peep sights on red star's website, any comment or suggestions as to how well these would work on the S-308
  12. I just ordered my new saiga 308 / 16' bbl today,, 289 + Tax & bckg check, should be in next wed... can't wait.... mmmmmmmmmm Questions already looking to order , williams peep sight plus high vis front blade, have one on my both of my sks's driving tacks out to about 150-200 meters any suggestions ? my guy can put them on just have to get them .... any suggestions on the CERAMACOAT, can't find it at lowes/ home depot. want to try it out on an old mauser 308 I have before I do my other rifles... looks good in the posts I have seen Suggestions for a 5 r
  13. Are there any decent ranges out there in your neck of the woods ?
  14. Thanks for the info. I live near Richmond now, but planning to move to the Southwestern part of the state or Eastern Tenn. In the next year or so. After I finish my degree. I had a bad experience with my first SKS tried to do a "trigger" job and screwed it up pretty bad, had to order another trigger group and install it and that was a pain. A machinist I am not. I am a better destroyer than fixer .. If you are interested in getting together to shoot let me know, I can make a trip down south with some advance planning..
  15. Hi all ,, Just joined the forum , Thinking of buying a S-308. Shot a Saiga 762X39 last weekend, was very comfortable to shoot. I already have two sks's and a ak, so want to move up to 308 to go along with my Savage 110fp in 308. Trying to consolidate ammo,, because of steadily creeping prices and manufactuer greed. Anyway, I got my FFL guy looking for a decent price on a Saiga 308 carbine with the drag stock.. anybody on here actually do custom gunsmithing for this rifle. I would like to add a pistol grip and a compensator/flash hider to it once I get it. Also would l
