Yep , you guys are right , didn't notice it . Guess Haley tried different AK build . Most be awesome to have access to all those wonderfull toys .

That sight / gas block is made in the US , don't know if I can post a link to it because of the vendor rule . The old one required a new barrel and a lot of work but they're coming out with a direct replacement soon . And I'm not affiliated with them . Just do a google search on "travis haley ak " and you should find it .

got my 8x42 scope from them ; less then a week . I think they have a "shop" in in north carolina . no tracking or contact with them after placing the order . Scope was perfect , new , no issue , but i know some people had problems with them .

I think UTG is made in china .... not 100% sure .

Is the 308 barrel much larger the 7.62 ? they're both 7.62 after all . Never had a 308 taken apart in my hands yet but a friend of mine has one , could do a clean up day with him and try my rail on his 308 if your willing to wait a few days .

Fits pretty snug but not tight ,as no movement while the barrel rest in rail but has a little of left to right play when you slide it on the barrel. last pic

I'm using the 479 and it works great . Got around 1500 round on it and most of those using my bipod mounted on the lower rail . Never had to adjust or retighten anything . Everything seats good (good large contact area on all the parts). The front screws are all the way in tight but not the back . I have about 1 mm of play between the 2 rails in the back , didn't want to tighten to much there . You'll feel the tension on the screws when you mount it . I'll try to post some pictures later .

I've been shooting twice a week with a UTG 479 on my 7.62x39 with no retainer and had no problem . As you said , make sure not to over tighten at the receiver side , it'll pull hard on the gas tube . And i have a harris bipod on the rail and use it all the time , stable and never gets loose (rail or bipod) and no sliding .

for a 7.63 x 39 you need the #479 ( large barrel) . I use one on my rifle and all i had to do was taking the steel plate on top of the gas tube off . It's hold in place by four little welds . I got a retainer but did not use it , the rail fits perfect when bolted in place , no sliding or play . Maybe i'm just luky but it should be the same on other rifles with the same barrel . By the way my barrel mesure 11/16 (if i remember right) at the location of the rail and i give that to the guy at copes to check the size when i ordered my parts . I'll try to post pics later today after work .
