  1. Surly, There's just no telling where I'll run into you. Not yet as I haven't solved the softpoint issue. I found the problem, but am going to have to re-design the front a little. I will let you know when the final product is ready. RB Cool. If you need any help, drop me a line. Thanks. RB
  2. Here are some pics of the mag adaption and/or the trunion adaption. Mag first: This will not change your ability to use these mags in an AR, you just don't have to mill the trunion on your Saiga to use them. Here are some before and after shots of the trunion adaptation. Let me know if I can be of any more assistance.
  3. Ok, I'll play. I shot this in the front yard (kind of, within a few 100 yds anyway). No, I didn't kill it with the 4 wheeler, it was an SKS.
  4. Rifle will be sold without scope. Has less than 60 rounds fired through it $800.00. List was over $1k

  6. You are correct on all points, and I have product liability insurance for that reason. I started just to post the plans and let everyone make their own, but the chances of someone else making it exactly correct and testing it properly, I thought, created a greater risk and actually more liability than making them with strict quality control. On the .223, the trunion removal is minimal and does not structurally alter the strength, just the import restrictions. On the .308, I will need to do stress tests as more trunion removal is necessary, but as it's all completely before battery lockup and t
  7. Hold on, Yes you can mod the mags. I went brain dead for a moment and forgot how to read, or at least how to comprehend. I'll post a pic of the modded mag later today. Right now I have to get another cobalt bit to finish a few adapters so when the checks get here, I can fill the orders. (I haven't taken a pic of the mag yet or I'd post it now) forget the bottom post. No, the gun will have to be modded to accept the AR platform, however, it is a simple mod and will not effect the ability to use your Saiga mags. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. If you have word, PM me and I'l
  8. Hi Krom, The trunion will have to be modified to accept AR mags. It's a simple mod that anyone (hopefully) can do themselves, if they have a dremel or equivilent. The adapter will still snap in as always, and I don't think it will interfere with your ability to use regular KVar mags. I know the Surefire will still work, but I haven't done the conversion that you are planning, so I can't say with 100% surety, But I can't see how modding for an AK mag would make any difference. If you have word on your computer, PM me your email and I'll send you the installation instructions and you can judge
  9. Houston, Texas PM sent. Thanks for the help guys but Renegade's info helped me out in the end. When I pulled out the release spring I had tried pulling on the bolt assembly while sitting down which wasn't giving me enough force so I placed the stock on my hip and pulled down on the whole assembly popped out allowing me to fix the problem. Sorry I meant it was renegade who helped me You're welcome, and good shooting!! Let us know how your rifle groups and what you think about one of the joys of our lives.

  11. +100 Technicly speaking, the adapter will not take any grinding to fit. The only reason to grind anything is so the mag will fit your gun. I know that's splitting hairs, but I just couldn't resist. You are completely right. No matter how much I or anyone else stresses saftey, and not to grind on the trunion rivets, someone will anyway and blame someone else. After all, it can't be my fault is the world we live in today, unfortunatly. When the world gets so screwed up that you have to put caution labels on a cup of coffee to say it's hot, you know that too many people are playing in the sha
  12. +1 Take your time with this, and for Gods sake, make sure its safe. If I'm not certain of it's safety, It will die in prototype! Some people have reasons for living, I will not be a part of their demise!!!
  13. Yes to both. I don't believe in reinventing the wheel, just giving options on how to use it. It will snap on or off like the .223.
  14. I meant trigger as in trigger which you use to fire the firearm. I don't believe I have a BHO. You should have a BHO. It's a small silver flat square protruding out of the right side of the receiver close to the trigger. Try this, Remove the dust cover and push the release spring foward enough to slip it out of the retaining slot (this will take some effort), slide the bolt back and remove it. Push the hammer down with your thumb until it catches and reassemble gun. I don't know how this could have happened, but I guess it did.
  15. If you are handy with a welder, you can make an adapter to take AR mags without a bullet guide. How do you go about making this adapter to take AR mags? The adapter is simple to make, it's getting the geometry of the mag to feed without a bullet guide that is tricky. Ok. Parts list: 1 1/2" x16 gauge flat steel. 3/16" cold roll steel bar, spring, bronze rod, 6mm shoulder nut. Bend flat steel in press, cut out notch for mag release, cut out front lip from flat. TIG weld together, bend another piece of flat 3/4" long on sides for release rod and button, cut 1/2" wide
  16. Thanks Pointer55, So far USPS has been just under $5 and UPS just under $9.
  17. Thats a good idea IMHO. That's so true. The problem is the different machining of the rifle for the adapter. If you get it too far out of square, don't machine enough, or too much, it won't work properly. I'm having a little problem with it loading soft nosed bullets. They load, but sometimes get nicked which will throw your shot off. This is unacceptable. So I'm waiting on the rain to stop to see if I have that fixed. I won't part with it until I'm sure of it. I'm also trying to put a mag stop on this so as long as you machine enough out of the gun, the geometry stays correct and
  18. So how doe's this work? Is this an AR mag adpter w/a right release button for $80? Or just the right release button being added to an existing adpter? If it is the whole adpter for 80$ then does it require any permanent mods to the reciever? Thanks It's the complete unit. There are mods to be made to the trunion and magstop rail that are permanet, but not damaging. What I mean is that any mag that worked in your gun before the mods will work after the mods. These mods just allow you to snap on the adapter and use AR mags. The adapter connects to the rifle like your standard AK mag,
  19. Sorry, I posted them in an earlier thread. Here you go.
  20. The word plastic covers the whole spectrum of materials that make up "plastics", and like I said I hope this will not be made of plastic. The Notion of the mag latch being held in by a relatively small layer of "plastic"......hmmm anyone wanna guess where these will break when they do break. renegadebuck, if these are to be made of "plastic", I will pay you double what the plastic price will be for your metal prototype. I would think it would be re-enforced with metal like most good designs of polymer mags, but I'm not sure yet as I won't get the finished product to him until t
  21. It does take more modification to the rifle than the .223 adapter, but as far as how much in time, I'm not sure. My dremel is on it's last leg and quit as soon as it got a little warm, so it took me a couple of hours. I think it could probably be done in 30 min. with a good one.
  22. It attaches to the gun. Like you said, the other way would kinda be like f**k**g for virginity!
  23. PM me to place orders, Introductory price $80 + ship from 28023 Thanks, RB
  24. I've never had a problem out of mine at all. It'll blow the bull out of the target at 100yds (that's as long as my range is)consistantly, and the mag problem is now solved! What part of Charlotte are you in? I'm only about 40 miles north.
