Rusty 0
Seems that the last time I was out shooting the 20, I lost the locking detent (you know, that little spring loaded thingy that keeps the gas valve from moving). Any idea where to pick one of these up?
dinzag 31
Rusty, I'll check into it, but I believe that is identical to the AKM FSB pins. I have the S-12 tore down and a dismantled AKM FSB sitting on my bench. Question, how did you lose it shooting? Did the cross pin come out?
Rusty 0
Guess so. The cross pin, spring, and detent are all missing. No idea how it happened... Edited March 20, 2006 by Rusty
dinzag 31
My detent cross pin came out of mine very easy...almost too easy. Plus it was way short. I used a long one off my S-762 rifle - the one that hangs out too far from the gas block. Had to trim 1/16" off. I think mine may have been redone at EAA because it looked to be ported... If AKM pins are compatable, you can get 'em at K-Var...I'll let ya know.
dinzag 31
Rusty - looks like the AKM one will work. You will need to remove 0.091 from the right (outside) end and 0.032" from the depth of notch. The notch is longer on the AKM, but that shouldn't be a problem. It won't stick out any farther. AKM top & Saiga bottom AKM pin is: 0.151" dia o.d. 0.491" long 0.095" wide at thinnest point in the notch. Saiga S-12 & S-20 pin are: 0.150" dia o.d. 0.400" long 0.063" wide at thinnest point in the notch.
Rusty 0
dinzag: You are the man. Now I just need to track down a spring and cross pin and I'll be set.
dinzag 31
I thought they sold the pin and spring together at K-Var...maybe not. Anyhow at least there's a solution.
Rusty 0
Well, I ordered a couple of things from K-Var. Hopefully I can hack something together.
