2 3/4 ammo?

Will the .410 accept 2 3/4 ammo? I have been using 3" to this point with no problem, but saw a deal on 2 3/4, will it work?

Only if you have a newer model 410 with adjustable gas system AND 2.75" mag.

as Cobra mentions... thats the kicker.. if you CAN shoot shorter shells, it should.... I can shoot both 2.5" and 3" shells in mine... If you measure them BEFORE shooting, I think you will find that they are 2 5/16th" and 2 13/16th" respectively... the steel hulled barnauls measure out at precisely 2 3/4" as they do not open any further than they already are... the rolled over end just straightens out, the length doesnt increase.

 

I shoot the steel barnaul in the "3" mags" or... 76mm magazines. The 2 5/16" shells, I shoot in the 65mm magazines.

 

 

The length is normally what is measured either BEFORE LOADING COMPONENTS INTO THE CASING, or AFTER FIRING... as the chamber needs to contain the open casing completely in the chamber, without it impeding the wad out of the chamber.

Ok, I dont have an adjustable gas system, and I have 3" mags. So you are telling me none of them will work, or that just the steel hulls will? Like I said I know 3" work fine, but its a bitch finding ammo lately even for the .410. Wanting to find slugs and buckshot that will work.

I am saying that all "standard" 3" shells will work... and the steel barnaul shells will work.

 

IN YOUR PARTICULAR SAIGA YOU CANNOT USE SHORT SHELLS....

 

You have one of the older 3" only models.

 

All I was saying before was that the measurement of a shell is its before loading or after firing length... the length of the open casing. NOT THE LENGTH OF IT READY TO SHOOT... BUT... to be simplisitic.. they are "called" 3" shells even though before they go boom they are less than that...

Hi Cobra,

I do have the ajustable gas tube but I was wondering. The saiga with the gass tube is the magazine 3 or 2.75? Will I be able to shoot the 2.75in ammo out the gun?

Teky, with a 76mm magazine, yes you will....

 

 

 

(There are TWO and ONLY TWO sizes of magazines. The 65mm magazine is for the 2.5" shells, the 76mm magazine is for all the rest! )

Do you know of a place to but the 2.5in mag. From what I have seen they are very hard to find.

I would give EAA a call, last I knew they STILL Sold magazines for saigas...

 

Other than that, I would try both Gunbroker, and Ebay... I see 410 magazines on both very frequently.

 

I think gunbroker will be the best shot, but still look at ebay... just in case.

Email the other 3 to see what size they are... as they do not specify.
