The main difference is the stock; the D has a stock more like the regular SKS, and the M models either have a thumbhole stock (like mine), or a Monte Carlo stock. The other major difference is that the D models have a bayo lug and the M models do not. In retrospect, I really should have stuck a mag in my M before taking this pic. Oh well, I don't think I'm gonna lug everything back out of the safe to take another pic at this time. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Second, I'd go with a Chinese; they are as well or better built than some (remember: Yugos aren't chrome lined), are still pretty easy to find and can usually be had for $200 or less.
