TheGunHustler 3
Why has ishmash not made a 5.45x39 saiga. I would love to have one but cannot afford to buy a tantal or any thing like it. can a 7.62 be converted to 545 i know it would need a new barrel and bolt. maybe a peice welded to the ejector. can this be done? Red Jacket 329
I think you'ld be better going with a Bulgarian kit build .
jimmy_stikx 0
It'd be easier to buy a S-223 as the magwell and ejector would translate over better. You'd then need to pull the barrel, and srip it of all it acucherments (sp?) and replace them onto a Bulgarian barrel from K-Var, possibly fitting the barrel with sleeves so all the hardware fits, and headspace it to a 5.45 bolt, and with that, you may or may not need to buy another carrier. I know the '74 bolts have a smaller stem, but it could either be to big or small for the carrier. In either case a 74 carrier could be bought, or turn down the bolt stem, or sleeve it and turn down to fit, whichever. Then you'd need a bullet guide still, either a modified one from K-var, or a piece of pipe cut up and fitted, don't think Danzig's would work. Now from my quick and dirty math, you spend about the same on a conversion as buying a kit and either buying a $40 slightly less than perfect reciever from NoDakSpud, or bending your own. My $.02 worth.

It looks like Centerfire Systems has them for $330, I recall seeing them cheaper somewhere else recently though.
