I allready have one all set up for hunting so now it must be time for a shits and giggles gun. I was thinking that a nice short gun would be lots of fun,unfortunitly local law says that the gun has to be at least 762mm long and that as its a semi that it has to have a fixed butstock(may have to turn one into a pump to get round this one day) so how short can I cut the barrel down and still have a gun that works relyably with 2 3/4 bird shot? If I have to open up gas ports all good but how do I do this? All ideas and coments very welcome Quote Link to post Share on other sites
kresk 10,063 Posted July 7, 2007 Report Share Posted July 7, 2007 Assuming you are in the U.S. the barrel has to be at least 18 inches to remain legal, unless you want to jump through the ATF hoops and get an NFA firearrm (short barrel shotgun.) You can do a SBS on a Form 1 and $200. If you look at Tromix's website you will see shotguns with down to eight inch barrels. I think once you get more than two or three inches under eighteen, the gas ports need to be adjusted. There are some excellent posts on the subject if you do a search of the forum. I have tryed searching and it looks like I will have to open up the ports but could not find any info on how to do this.
