stoyan79 0
I just converted my Saiga 12. It is the 19" model with treaded barrel. I installed the following US parts: 1. buttstock 2. pistol grip 3. FCG (trigger, hammer, sear) for a total of 5 US parts. Am I good to go, or I need more US parts? kresk 10,063
Exceeded meaning, I installed too many US parts? Means you have more than enough US parts. That's OK!

Check out the Tech Section sticky on 922r and see for yourself. You can never install too many US parts, just not enough.
stoyan79 0
I understand that too many US parts is not a problem, I just wanted to verify that 5 was exactly what I needed. Thanks for the help!
lilc 0
3. FCG (trigger, hammer, sear) From whom did you buy your fire control group, and what did you pay for it? -- Lil' C

BATFE doesn't count the trunnion on the S12) Add pistol grip = 14 parts US Parts: Hammer (1 part) AGP mag (counts as 3 parts) Gas piston (1 part) Pistol grip (1 part) Butt stock (1 part) Total US Parts: 7 14-7= 7 foreign parts = Fully compliant Because you are swapping out both the hammer and the gas piston, you are also good to go if you decide to use your factory 5-rd mag or a Russian 8-rd. belt fed frog 56
Navy87Guy the S-12 109 with threaded barrel is listed as 14 parts in the parts sticky that is why i am confused this is the stock i have ordered http://riflestocks.com/SaigaAK.htm#SAIGAFS Edited February 5, 2008 by belt fed frog
Navy87Guy 1
Navy87Guythe S-12 109 with threaded barrel is listed as 14 parts in the parts sticky that is why i am confused this is the stock i have ordered http://riflestocks.com/SaigaAK.htm#SAIGAFS Yeah -- it's only 14 parts if you have a muzzle device installed. The nut that protects the threads isn't considered one - but it's always better to be safe rather than sorry. Technically, a choke shouldn't count as a "muzzle device" either -- but if it ever came to it, some gung-ho BATFE agent could make your life painful while the right, smart people sorted it out. So if you're worried, just make sure you are using your AGP mags - then you're still 2 parts beyond the requirement with no doubt! Jim
Cobra 76 two 2,677
I've always been of the school of thought that safe is better than sorry. It is not that hard to make sure you are above board on compliance. If I have ONE more part than I need, that's a good thing.

Just because we may read the law doesn't mean the people you may be dealing with in the field have! A little extra effort (and caution) could save a big PITA.
