sfven 0
I am going to be using a different scope set up on my S308 and wish to remove the side rail. How do I do this? Will the rivets have to be drilled out? I am going to build my version of a Super Vepr.
nalioth 405
Will the rivets have to be drilled out? Yes, and most likely the front rivet on the rear block will have to be replaced.

Yes, and most likely the front rivet on the rear block will have to be replaced. and you will have a couple of holes to weld in, grind down, and then refinish the receiver... why did you what to remove it again? Paladin 37
I took my siderail off my S12. I ran a tap in the the rear block and put in a sling mount.

I wanted a smooth side receiver. I will be installing the B-square scope mount, and I am also removing the safety lever and installing a Galil like safety selector. I will be making a stocking to resemble a super vepr. After all that is done I will be deburring and finishing out all tooling marks and finally having it DEEP blued. Before I get the "sows ear" remarks, this is solely done as a hobby. I learn new skills and get a great looking rifle at the same time.
