Rustynuts 3
Got my S-12 gutted and obtained a sandblaster, K-phos, moly resin, and some black diamond media. Waiting on the Tromix DIY part to assemble and went to check out the oven for baking. I can't get the whole receiver/barrel in the oven for baking! Should I press off the gas block and remove barrel, or am I asking for WAY too much work? Options? Get a local shop to paint after I strip and k-phos?
nalioth 405
Do you have a wife? If so, do you like the couch? Or the garage? If you have no wife, have you pulled all the grates out of the oven and hung that critter kittywicket?
Rustynuts 3
Tried it crossways, but not angled down without the grates. Might "just" fit that way. What do you hang it from with no grates?
nalioth 405
You use pieces of coat hanger and 'cut it to fit' for your situation. There's places to hang it from, believe me... -- Old bachelor
IndyArms 10,186
build an oven... heat gun, 8" stove pipe, some wire to hang it... its all in the tech section I believe... I know I stickied it somewhere... great plans for a quick LONG oven to heat-cure paint finishes.
belt fed frog 56
or use a welding blanket to cover the open front of oven
Rustynuts 3
How do you get the darn thing into the oven without totally messing up the paint job? Seems like it would be tough to keep it bumping the sides or your arms when trying to hang just right.

Rustynuts 3
mmm, thought you had to bake it before drying to get the hardness, guess not!
belt fed frog 56
Moly Resin air dries to a nice handable state real quickly but you need to bake it so it gets to full hardness it is tough enough baked to take a ball pein hammer strike without showing any sign of having struck
