AK308_in_AK99709 0 Posted August 29, 2008 Report Share Posted August 29, 2008 Be careful to do your research on mounts. I opted for a UTG-978 from combathunting.com. It states in the ad "Will fit the Saiga 308." When I got it and found myself trying to slide a 1/2" rail guide on the mount over a 5/8" rail on the receiver, I thought what the heck? Contacted the company and was told it would fit if I took a file to my receiver to subtract a 1/4" of width from the rail. Too bad the ad didn't say fits the Saiga 308 after modification. I did research on my Saiga 308-1 that was manufactured in 2006. Turns out I have an SVD/AK-74 rail...not an AK-47 rail.
