  1. We have two gun shows a year on our local college campus...hey, it's the University of ALASKA. There are actually classes in identifying and bagging a legal tree-hugger. Anyway...only1 Saiga in the whole building. A Saiga 12 with an "okay" conversion. No high cap mags. Is you ready for this? One Thousand Three Hundred Federal Reerve Notes!!! No crap!!! 1,300 bucks...samolians...clams! A grand and 3 C-notes! Incredible, you say? No. What is incredible is that when I went back by to show a fellow Saiga owner who just knew I was lying...IT WAS GONE...SOLD. It is a
  2. Yeah, I'm thinking a progressive press is in order when finances will allow it. I started with Lee's 4-hole progressive and have never looked back. The die sets are the best priced I have seen.
  3. As far as mounts, the Saiga's have been coming lately with a couple of different side rails. Check out http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/bstmounts.html and ID your rail then you'll know what to shop for. As far as ammo, I do reload and I have not experienced ANY shortage of .223, 7.62x39, .308, 9mm, .357 Mag/.38 SPC ,or .45. Food for thought.
  4. I'm also ditto with Dakota.7.62 x51 has a forgiving tolerance built in, but I don't think going long on the case is within that tolerance. I gauge, trim and regauge each case. I can't afford malfunctions afield.
  5. OUTSTANDING choice!!!! I started with the Lee 4-hole progressive and have never looked back. Solid...non-quirky...easy to set, adjust, maintain. The price of the dies with more options than others are the best on the market. My only NON-Lee purchases have been an RCBS powder trickler (like the metal base), RCBS case master gauging tool (match grade ammo by insuring axial true), and a Lyman Flash Hole Deburring Tool (prefer match grade cases and I have more time than money). You won't go wrong with Lee.....EVER!
  6. Oh Master Ungulat, Where did you get your bayonet lug for the M7?
  7. From the website, $149.95 for the .308.....but,man, is this sweet!!!
  8. I'm reloading at 13 cents a round. If you have any questions, several of us reload. Just ask. I'm reloading at 13 cents a round. If you have any questions, several of us reload. Just ask.
  9. Just for the sake of R & D, how many are you looking for initially? Guess long...it is always better to have them and not need them than to NEED them and NOT HAVE them.
  10. Outstanding work!! I have a shop of my own where I do custom work...if you ever make it to Alaska...you know, to return to America when we secede from the Obam-i-nation...look me up. I'll give you shop space until you get on your feet. As far as the questions: Is a last round bolt hold open something you would want? I would probably change the follower to 16GA to take the beating the bolt will likely dish out. Personally, I like the BHO...as usual I am an exception...my bolt DOES NOT slam home when the mag is released. Do you want a peep hole for the 20th round so you can see whe
  11. Hey, Guys: Who has good luck with whom in supplying a quality piston in a timely manner? Thanks.
  12. So if im figuring right in theory if i sight it to be .12 inch off it will stay that at all ranges. Technically, no. At center point of the scope a change in windage moves the linear aim left or right. The scope mount distance and position remain fixed. Trying to drive a nail in at 600 meters might be difficult...blowing a deer heart out at 228 yds....NO PROB. Hope this helps.
  13. Looks like you'll need the SVD mount. Here's one (there are others available): http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/detail.aspx?ID=592 is this one bore centered? Hey, MAV: Sorry, been offline for a couple of days. Now that you know that you need an SVD/SKS mount you should be on your way. I purchased the mount from Kalinka and found it about 3 mm off center. Easily adjusted by moving windage on the scope to zero at 200 yds. Your still in a heart sized radius at 100 yds and 300 yds. If your hunting black circles on a piece of paper I can't help ya. But this scope mount has alread
  14. I have a regular Saiga .308 manufactured in late 2006 (I think). I have a UTG QD mount on it. It goes on and off with no problem at all. I think I read somewhere that some side rail mounts are made for SVDs, etc. and may not fit a regular AK side rail. A UTG QD or bolt-on mount for an AK should work. The rail posts were by me. Unfortunately, part of the 2006 run put the SVD/AK-74 rails on the Saiga 308, so the standard AK mounts don't fit. So, MAV, please check the website Tantal illustrations of AK variant side rails If your S308 has the 3rd rail from the left on the t
  15. HogDog:" What model of .308 do you own? I have a 308-1 manufactured in 2006. I was about to reply to Mav that this mount does sit center, but DOES NOT fit the Saiga 308. I have been back and forth with CombatHunting who seems to feel the answer to the problem is filing my side rail to fit the mount. Unfortunately, the side rail or mount will need major machining to fit. I have both the bolt-on and quick-release models.
