davidsh 0
I saw a 20" 7.62 Saiga today at my local shop ($399 not too bad). I think I want the 16" version instead, but I'm wondering about accuracy. Any real difference out to 100yds? I'm new to the board and the Saiga world--just got my S12 in December. Mr Cole at CGW is working to remove the effects of fetal alcohol syndrome. My shottie was born with port defects. I searched thoroughly and couldn't find a barrel length discussion, but I'm sure I missed it.
SimpleIsGood229 3
It depends what you want to use it for. If you're using for defense purposes, go for the 16". If it's just a plinker, it doesn't really matter. As for accuracy, I doubt you would see a whole lot of difference between the two.
sunnybean 939
As most will tell you, length does not effect accuracy...it effects velocity.
scoutjoe 276
but if you're using irons the longer sight radius of the 20" would be more beneficial than the 16"
davidsh 0
As most will tell you, length does not effect accuracy...it effects velocity. Probably a dumb question.....doesn't velocity correlate to accuracy?

Probably a dumb question.....doesn't velocity correlate to accuracy? I was thinking the same thing. Anyway, looking back I would have tried for the 20" instead of my 16". Just preferance nothing else.

mstranglr 9
velocity gives better consistency at distance because it resists variables such as wind. Velocity also increases lethality at distance. If you are building an AK-type assault rifle for home defence, the 16" is perfect. If you are building some type of designated marksman set-up like a Tabuk, get the longer barrel.
