Spartacus 1,619
It's essentially the same as an AK. Maybe a little more sensitive to re-installing the bolt carrier but that's it. Just make sure to use some downward pressure on the carrier. Search youtube for AK or AK field strip and you'll find a ton of videos.
hobbyshooter 59
Yeah the first time I tried putting mine together it took 2 tries before I realized you have to push the hammer down with the bolt carrier in the farthest back position. Then I realized you have to have the bolt all the way forward in the carrier. Those are really the only 2 tricks to putting it back together.
npdpig 0
Thanks I am going to try this weekend...
tcox4freedom 0
Try this link: It helped me a lot! I still have trouble replacing the bolt correctly. Edited May 16, 2009 by tcox4freedom
Frost 0
You have probably figured out how the bolt goes in the carrier. The kind of squared off protrusion goes into the slot on the carrier. The hammer must be cocked. Put the bolt in with the protrusion going into the slot, rotate it forward. There is only one spot where the carrier will go down and be in it's proper position. Have the Bolt in the carrier in it's forward most position. The Rear of the carrier should be at the rear of the receiver. You've done this a couple of dozen time right? But it just won't go all the way forward, it hangs up. Here is what happens, the hammer against the bottom of the bolt prevents the carrier from going down enough to properly engage the rail. Push down on the carrier, you will feel it go into place and then slide it forward. There will be some resistance as you cross the hammer. The resistance should be similar to what you feel when you slide the carrier without the bolt. There will be some resistance when you push down, not much though. You should not have to exert a lot of pressure.
G O B 3,516
It may take considerable force to push the bolt carrier down against the hammer to get the damn thing to line up with the top rail. Down and forward seems to work best. It will get easier as the gloppy factory paint wears smooth.
tcox4freedom 0
Yeah; I get better every time I try. (Holding it in a vise helps.)
