Basic AK stock

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to finalize the list of things I want to add to my Saiga when I convert it. I first wanted to install the Tromix stock and use the weld on receiver plate. Now I'm leaning to a standard AK stock.

All the standard AK stocks look like they install into the receiver with out a receiver block added. I don't see any that attach to the Tromix weld on receiver plate.

Is there Standard AK butt stock that will attach to a Tromix weld on receiver plate?

I don't want to weld on a receiver plate and then be limited to only certain types of stocks.

If you use the weld-on plate, or one of the blocks from Ace, Magnolia, etc. you can use a stock by Tromix, Ace, or DPH (any others guys?)

Yes you will be limited.

No AK style stock that fits the 2hole attachment yet - that I know of

Any Standard AK stock will fit the stock receiver without any extra parts. All you need to do is remove a very small amount of material (about .050) from the sides of the stock where it goes into the receiver due to the thicker receiver.

Any STOCK AK buttstock should fit your Saiga by just unscrewing the 2 screws on top of the stock. Like 7.62 said, you may have to file it down a little bit to fit. If you remove your factory buttstock, look at the profile of the end that actually goes into the receiver, it looks kinda like steps. That is what any AK-style replacement stock will look like, as well. If you buy a either a weld-on or receiver block you will have to cut the tang that protrudes from the rear of the receiver when you remove the stock. If you do cut off this tang you will never be able to use a "factory"-style AK stock again without serious wobble, unless you obtain a new rear trunion; and good luck with that. If you are that indecisive, buy a Tapco AK stock for $35 or so and try it out. If your not satisfied- cut that tang!

Any AK stock made for stamped AK's will fit your Saiga.

I found this stock at E gun Parts. It mentions a top Tang. What is that? Would it be a problem?

This is the "top tange"....(See picture below)....and no, that will not be a problem when installing directly on your Saiga.
