r40734 19
Can somebody tell me exactly what kind of steel or alloy the Saiga 12 barrel is made out of?
Reverendfranz 160
Well, i cant definatively, but ive always been under the impression it was CL 4140 CMV, though i wouldnt stake my life on it. Whatever it is, its the nicest AK barrels available. Someone who has a barrel stub laying around from shortening a rifle should have it sent in for destructive testing, im sure it would be pretty interesting.

I have a short piece of stub, but it's for another little project I'm playing around with and didn't want to destroy it. I would think that somebody has had it analyzed by now. I would think 4140 or 4150, but not at all sure about that...
SpaceGhost 0
I think it is HFS TAP. Hell for stout - thick ass pipe. I have a piece and I know how to destroy things but I don't know how to test things. So I can't really do destructive testing. If anyone has the ability to test it I will send it to you.
