Rapier 0
So while I'm going down the list of stuff to get for my x39 conversion, I'm looking at getting a new (threaded) FSB. Now, with that will be coming a new muzzle attachment. I really like the looks of those Bulgy flash hiders, but I'm not sure that a Arsenal 74-style compensator wouldn't be more practical. What say you guys? Flash hider or 74 comp? Also, I'm not really set up to press off the FSB (Especially if it comes dimpled), do you guys have any suggestions as to a good smith I might contact for that? nalioth 405
What say you guys? Flash hider or 74 comp? What do you want it for? Recoil reduction or flash reduction? Also, I'm not really set up to press off the FSB (Especially if it comes dimpled), do you guys have any suggestions as to a good smith I might contact for that? Well, depending on where you live, you have various options. For instance, if you lived near me, you could come here and do it yourself.

Does 7.62x39 actually have enough recoil to warrant a comp? About all I have experience with is 20" AR's in 5.56mm, so I'm a little spoiled there. Also, Kansas City, KS area, so Houston would be rather a bit of a drive.
N4KVE 14
I put a 74 style comp on the end of my s308. I had the barrel shortened to 14 1/2" so the comp had to be permanently attached. If I could do it again I'd use a FAL flash hider or maybe HK because when I shoot the gun indoors it's VERY loud. Insane. I brought 100 rounds & quit after 50. It's the loudest gun I own. Every shot felt like someone was trying to crush my chest. But, it does look awesome. The front site was pushed back against the gas block, & the comp rests against the front site. On the back end is a Romy side folder. It was stolen from my car 2 years ago, but I got it back from the cops last week in perfect condition. GARY N4KVE
BKLYN_C 14
Well, I'm not sure. Does 7.62x39 actually have enough recoil to warrant a comp? Most definite YES.
