REKIII 0
Still in the midst of my conversion (haven't had much time and my welder gas ran out). I was test fitting my grip with the grip nut: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/se...K47-Grip/Detail http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/se...-47-AK47/Detail And I couldn't get it to tighten down. I could tell everything was bottomed out but I couldn't get it to snug up, it's as if the grip nut is too tall. Is it normal to have to grind that down? Thanks! Darth AkSarBen 20
Try putting a few flat washers on the PG bolt before putting the bolt through the grip and into the PG nut. Edited August 19, 2009 by Darth AkSarBen

REKIII 0
U jost happen to get a pg bolt that wasnt threaded enough ive gotten a couple of them. I don't think thats the problem (not positive) nor do I think the washer trick will help. When I tighten the bolt down the bottom of the head is digging into the plastic (where the head should seat), it's like the square protrusion of the grip nut is longer than the well in the grip, so The most obvious solution is to grind down the grip nut, but I'm not sure that is wise or recomended. Darth AkSarBen 20
I saw your post at the link, with the pistol grip nut "washer". However, the threads on the PG nut go all the way though. Just cut the bottom of the PG nut off a few thousands, use a dremel to clean up and counter sink the hole a bit on the bottom end where the PG Bolt meets. The threads are not unique and can easily be chased by running a bolt down from the top and on out through. I don't even think you'd need a tap to clean them. This would effectively make your PG nut shorter and may tighten up the grip to the receiver.

I'm not sure it is as big of a space as you show, so I'm going to try to grind a little more off my grip nut before I go through the trouble of making the washer, but a really good idea if it comes to that. I mostly wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something totally wrong, or missing a step some where. Thanks guys!
