Israeli TZ headstamp .308 Win reloadable?

Recommended Posts

I have found some Israeli .308 Win bullets that are $14.95 per bag of 50. So I am wondering are they reloadable? Do they have the boxer primed cases, or are they a one shot, and pitch round? Nice brass case. I have "one" at home that is a TZ 81 headstamped.

Reloaded tons of 'em - Boxer primed. If you ever come across the wooden bullet blanks, you can pull the vampire killer and reload as usual. :blues:

I was at Dunham's Sporting Goods store this afternoon and bought 1 box of brown boxed .308 marked ".308 7.62 x 51" Shot a few and this evening I tried to resize them and came to realize that I couldn't knock out the primer. I did not "force" the issue. Looked in there with a flashlight and it looks like I have 2 holes on either side of where the main primer hole is. Bummer!! They were only $14.99 / box of 20. I think they are fire and forget.

Head stamp on them says " 308W O 82 O with the "O" across from each other and the "82" at the bottom.

If you were inclined, you can convert that brass to accept a boxer primer. I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble, but it's an option.

Otherwise, why not just order straight up brass?

Ironically, I also bought some Remington .308 Winchester 150 gr Core-LOCK PSP that were marked down to 19.99, but at the home I looked at the receipt and bought them for only $14.99. So this evening I went back and bought another box, again, $14.99. Got home and shot a Pizza Hut box at 100 yard. I put a dot on the box with a magic marker and shot a 5 shot, 0.561" group that cut almost all in the same hole!! I pulled the bullet and it had what appeared to be BL-C(2) powder in it so I weighed it at 46.4 grains with a 150.0 gr PSP flat base bullet. I compared some BL-C(2) I have and with the same weight, refilled the case to the same level inside the case. I have absolutlely NO WAY of knowing it is BL-C(2), but I think that it's a good start. More than likely it has a magnum primer if it's BL-C(2) as spherical is more difficult to ignite, and the magnum primer is very often used with ball powder for such a purpose. Probably Good bet is it a Remington bullet with remington primer as well. Will post picture if interested.
