SeanP 0
Anyone know much about this USAS12 clone?
Wakal 10
Yes, to an extent. As far as I know, there were only two of these "flat top" beasties made. One was sold, but I am not sure what happened to the other. Alex

Wakal 10
IIRC, the BATFE issued an addendum to Ruling 94-1 that said anything that used USAS-12 parts was considered a USAS-12. Which is interesting, since the trigger group and pistol grip are AR-15 parts. Most folks seem to be interpreting that to mean than anything with a USAS-12 barrel is, itself, a USAS-12. The BATFE is also on record as stating that if a gunsmith modifies a part beyond the factory specifications, they have manufactured that part. So...using the first logic, a USAS-12 barrel on a new receiver is a USAS-12. Using the second logic, a USAS-12 barrel that has been Magnaported is no longer "factory," and has been manufactured by the gunsmith (who then must pay the excise tax due on a new gun). Using the second logic, since the barrel has been "manufactured" it is now a "Bob's House of Angle Porting" barrel and NOT a USAS-12 barrel. Yeah, this all makes sense... The BATFE is very good at arguing both sides of an issue, and then charging you using whichever argument means jail time for you. Alex
