22_Shooter 1,560
Once you jump through the legal hoops to obtain a transferable MG......does "SBR" even apply anymore, to that gun? In other words, if I were to get a transferable, stockless, full-auto Mini Uzi with a <16" barrel......am I free to throw a stock on it whenever I want? Or does the $200 SBR stamp still apply? EDIT: On the same note, if I obtained a transferable M16 lower (FAR less likely than me getting an Uzi, but work with me here...) that has a stock attached, am I free to put on any length barreled upper? fxhart 14
Machine guns aren't restricted by barrel length.
VanKiller 322
Well that is kind of a "loaded" question. SBR does not apply, like 922R, does not apply, it is depending on how the gun was originally registered. By the letter of the law, it must stay as it was registered................ In real life............once people have the tax stamp, they change things all around. Sorry for the "Non-answer", but that's just the way things are currently done. But you can amend the NFA paperwork if you want to make a permanent change.
kwesi 39
I can speak specifically to sears as I own HK's. Bottom line is the sear trumps everything else. FYI if you purchase an HK sear or Registered Trigger Housing you can move it from host to host weapon, assuming the host is legal after you remove the sear, allowing you to shoot 9mm, .223, .308 and even 22LR with the proper kit! My first Class III weapon was an HK MP5K. I chose to "divorce" the sear that happened to be "married" on the original Form 4 paperwork from the receiver so I could move it to other hosts. I also wanted to keep the vertical grip and folding stock attached to the MP5K so I SBR's it to stay 110% legal. Hope this helps!

Throw a stock on it and cut down the barrel . M-16 lower , dress it how you want .
Eric Pate 478
One its a registered MG, nobody really cares about the rest of it. MG status is generally considered to trump all else, although as VanKiller stated; it technically must remain as its registered but you can amend this anytime with a simple letter to the ATF.
