cmroles 0
So, last night I finally did it. I gritted my teeth, closed my eyes (well, maybe I peeked a little) and took the 18V Makita to the "extra" rivets in my receiver. So far the results are great! This is in no small part to all the great info I found on this forum. At this point it is completely stripped, the pins / welds etc are all drilled and the bottom of the receiver is repainted with some Rustoleum High Temp paint. I went by the hardware store and picked up the nylon hole plugs that everyone recommends (another great tip from this forum). After putting them in they look just like the other rivet-heads, a perfect match! So now I'm just cooling my heels waiting for my conversion parts to arrive......they better show up soon before I just randomly find other stuff to take apart..... unclejake 428
It will seem like 6 years before they will arrive, but it will be like Christmas when they do!! And when you do the conversion, fire it and see what a great job you did, you'll be thinking, I need another Saiga to convert!! LOL

Now I can't wait to go shoot it. Everything went together like a charm. This (my 1st conversion) isn't too fancy. I just used the Tapco AK buttstock / Saw grip and FCG/TG from Tromix. I'm planning on replacing the sights and upgrading the forearm (and maybe a flash hider ). I think I'm hooked.....
