shryke300 3
I was looking through google for articles and posts about "accurizing" Ak's. I found some stuff and was wondering what the forum thought and if it had any suggestions. 1. Ammo: I would like to learn to reload anyway, but from what i gather, if the round is loaded right, and the round exits the barrel before the bolt and piston hit the rear, a lot of the vibration and whip of the rifle will not affect the bullet. Is this thiking onthe right path? 2. sights. this is a given, no need for help here. 3. gas tube fit? i have heard the fit will help if done right... how will this help, and what should be done? 4. handgaurd fit? 5. headspacing . REasonable? I figure sights and ammo will give the greatest reward for effort. What about the other stuff? worth bothering with? I shoot 6-7" groups at 100 yds with my saiga, unsupported(what are reasonable expectations for unsupported groups?), and would like to half that.

space_weazel 1
Looking at my Saiga's the one thing I want to do is re-crown the barrel, this is not a easy or cheap task, I have the advantage of a qualified machinist for a neighbor, but have to wait for him to have time, not that I mind, hes a great guy. saigafreake 27
reload your ammo rsa fcg and longer sight radius will help a lot.
Rhodes1968 1,638
Unless there is something wrong with the crown why would you fix it? Chamber fit and bullet contact with rifling as well as ballistics of the bullet itself are also part of the equation. Every rifle is slightly different. The one component that yields the most results is always the shooter. Thats why Appleseed is so vital and why everyone should attend at least one.
