billyjoebob 10
Well...I've had my Saiga 12 for about 6 months. I've added a gunfixer plug, and put hundreds of assorted rounds through it. I love this gun. With that said, I ordered all my conversion parts from Greg at CSS, and will be starting it early next week. I've done a ton of reading, and printed out all the instructions and pictures I could find. Is there any other advise anyone can offer? Trouble spots to avoid? One thing I haven't read anything on is grease points that I should hit when I reassemble the trigger. Are there any spots that would benefit from a light coat of grease or oil while the whole trigger assembly is open?
thealmightysam 2
It certainly doesn't hurt to oil the catch points on the trigger catch and the disconnector. Be careful cutting the PG nut hole. I cut mine a little large and there's a very slight wobble in it. You'll love your S12 even more once it's converted!
DyLonX5 3
If you use tromix parts you won't need to cut anything. I just bruss light oil over the whole assembly.
billyjoebob 10
What would be the best type of lubricant? Since I'm hitting recessed parts, I would think a light application of synthetic grease would be better than regular CLP... Thoughts?
corbin 621
CLP works fine, but I've just used WD-40 on my internals after cleaning and I haven't had an issue yet. The AK platform is pretty forgiving. Polishing up the bottom of the bolt and hammer face will help too. While it's overkill, I polished the rails, the extractor, the hammer/triger/disconnector surfaces and the inside of the gas block. Corbin

You might as well polish your FCG, bolt, and the underside of the bolt carrier while you've got it all apart. Once you've got it all put together, you're not going to want to tear it back apart for a little polishing.
