forbyfor 0
I received my new Gunfixer from CSS on 11-27-09. It hits the barrel and will not thread into the gas block. The factory plug was very hard to remove also, as i thought i'd break something while trying to remove it. I see video's of people just unscrewing the plug by hand, but mine is so close to the barrel, upon removal of the factory plug it made grooves in the barrel which look like thread marks. Filing down the original would be no problem, but the Gasfixer has much more contact area. Anyone had this problem & what did you do to remedy it? Forbyfor
sim1954 11
Mine did the same, File down barrel next to gas block untill it fits. Dont know of any other solutions
forbyfor 0
So the barrel should be thick enough there to do that, without causing problems? (THANKS)
sim1954 11
I think so. Thats what other people in threads have said and thats what i did You can always touch it up with black after your done. just file off a little at a time untill plug will screw in comfortably
forbyfor 0
Adder: I drove the pin out & removed the piece & spring. Took S-12 to the garage & used the Dremel, then fine tuned with a large flat file. You saved my day, as the new plug screws in and out easily now. I don't know why i didn't think of that solution. Now i got to find that can of rust-oleum. Thanks much!!!!!
corbin 621
Mine had the same problem: A couple minutes with a file and it's good. Corbin
Cobra 76 two 2,677
I informed gunfixr, (and I believe everyone else at the time) of this problem, back when I was testing the prototype. The knurled edge around the plug needs to be reduced in diameter for it to work well in all Saiga shotguns. It's common for some factory gas plugs to rub on at least one side when they are being taken out and put back in. I take a little off the outside edge of all mint to make sure there is plenty of clearance, but with the gunfixr plug there's more to remove and you will lose the knurling. Unfortunately, until they make them smaller, the only option is to take some off the barrel instead. A few passes with a 1" file will work.
