jhhiers 1
The title pretty much says it all; I need an AK lower handguard retainer for my Saiga conversion; I prefer one with the sling loop.

Paulyski 2,227
You can make a bolt on style from an AK's. The trick is to preheat your oven to maximum (that you can open, self cleaning will lock the door). Then heat the part up to bright cherry red with a torch. MAPP gas & a standard propane torch will do. Once bright red, place it in the pre-heated oven & turn the oven off to cool. The oven part is to ensure it cools slowly. This will anneal the part (reconfigure the carbon molecules) & make it workable without snapping. Good luck.

It says "minor fitting required" any idea what that means exactly?
