ancientmariner 0
Is the Dinzag retainer the only option for the .308 Saiga? I've read through some old threads in which numerous problems were reported with it.
1liter 20
That's funny, never had a problem with mine.
DrGonZo 157
If you are looking for something cheaper, I saw a post a while ago where someone used a pipe clamp as a HG retainer. Not sure what kind, but they said it worked.
WoodenNinja 2
No problem with mine either, Ive read that the problems people have are rare, but some s308's have an abnormally thick barrel. It mentions this on his site and there are a few threads that touch on this. It also says on his site that if you order his retainer and you have one of the oddball barrels, you can contact him and he will swap it out for you, easy as that. Bottom line is in my opinion, if you want something sturdy that looks professional and the part, this is really the only option, yes you can get something much cheaper i.e: pipe clamp as mentioned above, and I've seen a few with stock ak retainers dremeled out and then use a bolt to clamp with. They will cost you $20 or less. The end result will look like a hack job that is being held together with pipe clamps and bolts that don't look right (and take away from the value of your rifle, instead of adding to it). Have you seen pics of Dingag's retainer installed before? I've got pics in my gallery. Trust me man, It's well worth it. -Mike
