Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393 Posted July 22, 2010 Report Share Posted July 22, 2010 Bouncing off the dust cover edge will ding the brass, but if you have a stepped chamber rifle then it's going to mangle brass every time no matter what. Russian gun control laws leave civilian rifles with a special step in the chamber the intentionally puts a huge dent in the brass. Some people's guns are ones that a non-stepped barrel was used in making the rifle, my x39 does not ding brass. You should check to see if you have a stepped chamber or not as that is the cause of your problem most likely. I believe there is a sticky in this in the .223 section of forum.
