jcmacconnell 25
Hey guys. I am coming over from the saiga 12 forums where we polish our bolt carrier and hammer IOT help make cycling easier. My question is could I do that on my new SGL 21. Or does it not matter with these guns. Thank Jason
SimpleIsGood229 3
Welcome aboard. You can do the polishing, but it's not necessary. The only polishing I've done to my 7.62x39 is to the FCG.
bwade 38
It seems like more of a cosmetic thing to do when it comes the rifle platforms. I've certainly never had any problems with my SGL21 or IZ132 conversion which neither have had any polishing work done.

shades_of_grey 1,092
Polishing the fcg/bolt/bc etc is not necessary on Saiga rifles as it often is on Saiga shotguns. My advice is to leave the factory finish intact.

Rhodes1968 1,638
If you want to beakin the rifle with about 1k rounds of steel case then I cant see any reason to polish but a lot do. Some excellent threads on this forum on the subject as well as the reasons for doing so.
