I was able to fit a Norinco 223 30 round magazine to work in my saiga 223 with a little patience and a file. It will feed up to 28 rounds (they become hard to insert after 27) reliably..... without having installed a feedramp. :haha:

Well that's a good thing, trouble is the Norinco mags I have seen are as much as Saiga mags.

Too bad the steel 223 mags are expensive as oppose to what the sythetic AK74, and galil mags cost.

So what did you file, and are they loose side to side?

I filed the front of the magazine mainly, but it also requird a little work on the rear locking tab. The trick is to get the front of the magazine up high enough in the receiver to make it feed at a slight upward angle. Of course, this presupposes the back half of the magazine being high enough that the bolt will reliably hit the rim of a cartridge. It's a trial and error process. I will see if I can post a picture of it, but I'm not sure if it will be very useful without having a normal magazine to compare it too in the picture.

Also, it locks up tight. There is not any noticeable play in the fit, even though the magazine is narrower at the front.
