Puck Scuz

Recommended Posts

So my S-12 will shoot light loads and heavy loads just fine. I start out shooting slugs , say 20-50 rounds, on setting #1, no problem. Then switch to light loads on setting #2 or #3 depending on the round, shoots fine(50-100rounds). My issue comes when I switch back to #1 for more slugs, it won't eject the shells. I can go to setting #2 and it will work but It seems to be hitting the rear pretty hard. Making some noticeable marks. The Scuz build up seems to be the problem. It isn't blocking the ports but it is making the classic "Puck-o-scuz"

So, will it be bad to just shoot the slugs and bird shot on #2 ? What is the long-term of the rear trunnion impact thing I have here?

Lots of plastic (not molten lead) getting in there. It is shiny and very dense, but alas, it burns and smells just like plastic NOT molten lead!

Do I have to clean out the "puck-o-scuz" mid-session? Or can I just keep blasting away on the higher setting?

I have a gunfixer plug that has been slightly modded for my needs...

I have gone through about 1k with out cleaning and it was still going, my puck and threads were pretty well stuck, I was impressed that my gun still worked with how tight the puck was.

And I'm a huge fan of this stuff http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=20900/Product/C5_A_ANTI_SEIZE_LUBRICANT

Its the same stuff that glock uses on the slide rails on brand new pistols.

I use it on sparkplug threads, slide grease for carry guns, pressing barrels, lightly on the puck, and lots on the threads.

I also use it on my bolt/rails, and AR15s carrier...

Great stuff but hard to get out of clothes.

haha... those pics weren't taken in your shop were they? :lolol:

I thought Flint was the only town where firearms are as openly fondled as boobies in a tattoo shop.

ETA: maybe your ports have burrs or something peeling enough of the wad away and having those little plastic peelings go into the puck area...?
