conundrum 1
I have been asked by a friend to look at his ak74. here's the problem, the magazines stick when removed from the well if not held forward while rocking them out. with the bolt removed I can see the feed lips hitting the tab at the front of the trigger guard. this is a Rifle Dynamics build on an Elk River receiver. I did compare this 74 with two other 47s. the front of the magwell hangs slightly over the edge of the trunnion. my friend would like some feedback from experts before I trim the front edge of the magwell to match that of the 47s, any feedback would help my friend sleep better. and thanks in advance. Horse 39
My opinion: Send it back to Rifle Dynamics.
marlborocowboy92 1
Have you tried with more than one mag? What Im saying is it could be a mag issue...
rob-cubed 74
I've had to shave a tiny bit off on either side of the mag catch/magwell at the rear to solve this problem. Once on a WASR, and also on a home build. Use a Dremel with a sharpening stone, just take a little at a time off until the lips clear. Make sure it's not an out-of-spec mag, but it's not uncommon to need a bit of extra clearance.
