Converting parts question

I am converting a Saiga 762 x 39 and just wanted to make sure of one thing mainly the hand guard, does it have to be a Saiga hand guard or can it be for a AK and fit? Is the barrel and gas tube same shape and such as a regular AK's barrel and gas tube?

I have a question also. I was looking to get a CAA stock from Carolina Shooters Supply. Carolina's specify that theirs fit the Saiga rifles. They are currently out of stock, but I have check other sites, and the other sites don't specify whether the stocks will fit the Saiga's tangs. Do you guys know for sure? I hope I put this question in the right spot
