I read this before and save the picture, makes it pretty clear that it's a bunch of political BS. Thta said, 12% still sucks, but how many of those were allowed to go by government officials (project gun runner). How many of those came from government shipments to Mexico's "law enforcement" agencies?

My favorite was when this issue was first being put forward in the media last year or so, I specifically remember a clip of a "recent assault weapons seizure in Mexico." The newsperson was trying to say that all the weapons were likely purchased at US gunstores.

 

Problem was, most of the weapons were f/a m16s, SAWs, M60s, RPGs, etc. Many of the M16s even had the older triangle handguards, clearly from older military contracts. Not a whole lot of those in gun stores, let alone easily purchased. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story, though.

 

Thanks for sharing, even if it showed up in some chain email. I hadn't seen it, and like to see Gary Kleck's research. Won't see Diane Sawyer giving it any time.
