nito 0
Hello all. I was wondering if anyone might happen to recognize and be able to identify this pistol for me? It was a gift from a Canadian friend many years ago, who has since passed away and is now a memento for me. I was told at the time it was used for shooting the tread off of Tanks. Since then a couple of people have suggested it is a Flare Pistol - but I am not convinced, since I was told differently initially, as well as the fact that the barrel is 'rifled'. There is a distinctive "Z" engraved on the side of the barrel, as can been seen in the pics. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much! -S. Arik 565
It is a flare gun. It's a WW2 German Kampfpistole. Fired a flare. Some were modified by added rifling and a small sight. Those were capable of firing a nose fuse HE grenade. Edited August 2, 2011 by Arik

nito 0
Mine is actually an original - not a Japanese Replica. Apparently the 'bored' version is in fact a 'firearm' to fire "HE anti-tank" rounds... whatever they are... (?) Interesting link: http://forum.ih8mud.com/hunting-fishing/187361-walther-kampfpistole-z.html Thanks for the info. Arik 565
gun-parts.com/firingpins/ lonesentry.com/articles/ttt07/he-grenades-signal-pistol.html Don't think any have your specific pistol but between the two there might be something else that fits The other thing you might want to try is checking post ww2 flare guns from other european coountries. After ww2 lots of countries consolidated their armories to German or Russian weapons. Edited August 3, 2011 by Arik
nito 0
Geez. Looks as scary to fire as it would be for the target. Bvamp 604
do NOT make this operable until you find out the legality. it may be considered an NFA item. it may need to be registered, dude.

It might be missing a firing pin for a reason
SaigaNoobie 66
27mm is definitely above the .50cal max bore of non-DD items. If it's in working condition you may have to register it as a DD.
nito 0
Thanks All for your input. Agreed - probably best to check legality before making it operational...
