Rail mount.... bead?

Recommended Posts

Just drill and tap the front of the rail the screw in a $7 hi-viz bead.

That's an idea! I was going to say flip up, rail mounted UTG sights, but the drill and tap idea is cheap, and has fewer parts to worry about. I would give it a try myself if I get board of my wood setup, and get railed!:smoke:

Well, you don't generally want rifle sights for traditional shotgun use anyhow, and the OP would have to be a helluva shot to pull off wingshooting with raised rifle sights... a bead is the way to go.

There is a fair amount of meat up at the front of an ordinary Chaos rail .. plenty of space to drill/tap without getting near the rail cross cuts.

The only thing that might be an issue is getting a perfect comb height to get an eye right down the rail.. may or may not be an issue, depending on the stock he uses.

Regardless, if rifle sights WERE used, you wouldn't want UTG sights anyhow. Just get the HK sights from Chaos. Lower profile, better quality, and not terribly more expensive. A friend of mine tried UTG sights on a railed up Mossberg 590. The front sight would partially flip down on nearly every shot, regardless of how it was oriented.

I've used UTG parts at times. Sometimes I've regretted it, and sometimes it's worked fine.
