Verson 0
Man my sen. in Florida suck big time. They are both gay. I know there are several house members in florida who are more toward gun rights. I sent a e-mail to all my sen. and reps. and only got one reply from the very awesome Mark Foley. Here is what he said. "Dear Andrew, Thanks for contacting me in opposition to the reauthorization of the 1994 Semi-Automatic Weapons Ban. I, too, am opposed to an extension of the ban. I support common-sense gun legislation but I intend to avoid the temptation to pass legislation that is politically popular but will not prevent crime. With some 20,000 gun control laws currently on the books nationwide, we must see to it that existing law is enforced before we pass additional legislation that will not be enforced. For example, the two students who killed fellow students at Columbine High School were not deterred by at least 19 gun and explosives laws they violated when obtaining the weapons they used. I have voted to repeal laws that are unnecessary or which violate our cherished Second Amendment rights. For instance, I voted to prevent the government from creating a nationwide registration system for gun owners. In addition, I voted to repeal the semi-auto ban in 1996. This year, I also voted to limit frivolous lawsuits aimed at the firearms industry. Again, I appreciate hearing from you and please let me know if you'd like more information. Sincerely, Mark Foley Member of Congress" While Rep. Mark Foley is awesome, he was the only one to tell me he was against it, (by e-mail) out of 27 I think I had sent e-mails several weeks btw.
