Javagator 1
Pretty much said it in my long title..... I'm about done with my first conversion, until I ran across an issue with attaching the hogue grip. The hole doesn't match up to the trigger guard hole. The grip seems to far to the rear also. Any ideas?
todmich 16
As far as I have read on the houge grip you will have to remove some material from it so it will align.
Javagator 1
As far as I have read on the houge grip you will have to remove some material from it so it will align. That's what I was thinking. Shave down the area that butts up to the rear of the trigger guard so the grip slides over the guard some more allowing the hole to line up. I didn't want to hack up my grip before you guys help me confirm.
Webmeister 3
I just installed these on my S12 a few days ago. I searched the forum for suggestions, but there didn't seem to be a consensus. So I shot an email to Greg. He replied most people make the mounting hole oblong (it isn't by much - do a little with a 3/16" bit and check the fit). I didn't really want to grind out the front of the grip where it contacts the guard, and "fixing" the mounting hole worked great. Whilst researching, I see there are other grips for sale that come with oblong holes, so that made the most sense to me. So far, no problems at all after dumping 100 rounds downrange this past weekend. Can't say enough good about Greg. He's ben really responsive to every email I've sent him with questions, suggestions for various parts of my conversion. The videos are top-notch, and helped immensely. My last order was placed one morning, and sitting on my doorstep the next afternoon. Greg - if you're reading... rock on brother!
Javagator 1
I think modifying the grip would end up looking better. I don't like how it extends back over the edge of the receiver. It does however line up with the end of the stock plate (sorry forgot the name of this) once I slide it in the end of the receiver.
dayofruin 425
I just use a file. Remove enough so it seats Even with back of receiver. I just use a file. Remove enough in the front area where the TG goes so it seats Even with back of receiver.
Javagator 1
Well I decided to forgo sleep tonight and got it done, shaving a bit off the front of the grip where it meets the trigger guard. Now I'm just wondering why my stock is cock-eyed.... is this because people typically use a folder? Chaos Titan Rail coming someday..... or maybe I'll cancel the order... it looks pretty clean right now. Edited January 17, 2012 by Javagator
todmich 16
Looks good, my parts should be here tomorrow for my conversion.
robfromga 39
Its cock eyed because of the lack of a folding mechanism. Its designed that way.
MaloDave 19
I had to drill out the screw hole on the Hogue grip to get the grip to attach correctly. I believe I left the front next to the trigger guard alone. Malodave
