SgtRaven 531
Excellent, very informative thread! Brian M1: thanks for starting and going, with frank info posted. Mancat: you're the man. Thanks for extra efforts. Keep the thread going: I want to find out how the story ends (sale/fix/trade, etc). Happy Shooting!
Brian M1 50
UPDATE: The smith fixed the S223. It was just as he thought... the sloppy bolt-to-carrier fit was not enabling the case base to engage the ejector enough. He welded some extra meat onto the ejector, reshaped it, case hardened it, and BAM! Now she ejects a good 5'! I was planning on selling it once fixed... but with this (now) political climate (and ensuing buying frenzy)... I'm keeper her for now :-)
liberty -r- death 1,445
Glad to hear that in the end you got it working! If you don't mind me asking, what was the expense for the gun to get fixed?
Brian M1 50
Glad to hear that in the end you got it working! If you don't mind me asking, what was the expense for the gun to get fixed? No problem. It was $130 total (also including 2 Glock mags I picked up off him). Money well spent. This guy knows his stuff!
SgtRaven 531
Glad to hear! Welcome back; stick around. Speaking of price (including mags, lol): glad to hear that there are knowledgeable and affordable gunsmiths around. And, like commercial would say, professionally performed adjustments and functional check: priceless. Edited November 22, 2012 by Sgt. Raven
liberty -r- death 1,445
Price is better than I thought it would be. Glad it didn't cost small fortune.
