steveUK 9
I am looking to buy a Vepr 12 (.02) for practical shotgun in the UK. However, the Vepr 12 in the UK does not come with a threaded barrel for muzzle brakes, the barrel length is 27". The law in the UK staes the barrel length needs to be 24" minimum, my question therfore; is it possible to cust the barrel down to 24" (with a 27" barrel and muzzle brake it wil be too long, hence reduce to the minimum UK length) and thread it to allow a muzzle brake to be fitted. Also, can anyone reccomend a good gunsmith in the UK that can do this. Thanks. Steve
gunfun 3,931
I can't answer about the legality of modifications in the UK, but I am sure that it is possible to cut your barrel to 24.25" thread it and add a brake, ending up at 26 ish" This would also preserve your ability to use screw on chokes or paradox rifled tubes. In the US, a smith with the proper licensing can permanently attach the brake after chopping the barrel so that the total is the legal limit. I do not know how your country handles this issue.
