Limeybastard 4
Sorry about this I did search. How deep ( indexing?) would one want the muzzle break to be screwed down to? Should the barrel end meet flush with the where the muzzle break is? I'm talking depth of screwing down the flash hider. Thanks.

canoecanoe 63
The general consenus is 5/8" of threaded barrel You should check the device you plan to use. This thread may help: http://forum.saiga-1...ading-tutorial/ This may also help: http://www.dinzagarms.com/brakes_hiders/74brake.html Be aware that it is not likely that your threads will end up with a perfectly indexed device and you may need to use something like a crush washer or peel washer. I ended up cutting my shroud back all the way to the FSB and added a spring and plunger to my stock FSB. A little trouble, but worth it to me. Here: http://forum.saiga-1...o-my-stock-fsb/ Hope this helps. Edited October 18, 2012 by canoecanoe

I have used a phantom and a FSC, and neithers threads went deep enough into the brake to be able to use a plunger (ive thought about it). Sorry about this I did search. Thanks. Limey, I did the standard 5/8" cut on my shroud. This was a bit short for my phantom, so I cut it back with a hacksaw (pipe cutter was too wide) and the end of the barrel met up closer with the opening in the flash hider. When I got my PWS FSC however, I wanted to make the fit perfect, so I cut back some more and re threaded. Once indexed with a crush washer (that i filed for hours to make thinner) it was good to go. Point being, cutting 5/8" back isnt a cure all if you are picky like I am. But it is a good starting point. You may have to cut and thread some more if your brake has longer threads, but its way easier the second time.
